Video Transcript for Review of Westin Hitch Step - R5 Hitch Step 2 Inch Hitch - W68RX

Hi, everybody, Andy here with Etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Westin R5 hitch step for your two-inch trailer hitch receiver. This hitch step is going to be a simple but really practical add-on for you. If you drive a truck or an SUV, this is going to slide right into your standard two-inch trailer hitch receiver. And it's going to give you a sturdy step, and it's gonna make it a whole lot easier for you to climb into the truck bed or reach into the cargo area in the back. And this is really going to be a very simple add-on.

Now, I do wanna give you an overhead look here just so you can see what this is going to look like in regards to what you're going to be stepping on. And what I wanna do is kind of give you an idea of the size. So the overall length from end to end, so end cap to end cap, right about 28 inches. And then the step surface itself that you're actually gonna be stepping on, I'm gonna say pretty close to 27 inches. I guess technically it would be about 26 5/8 inches or so.

So you got a pretty good area here to step on. And if you notice here in the center, you have a textured tread, and this is made from injection molded polymers. So you're gonna get solid footing even in wet or muddy conditions. The frame itself is lightweight aluminum. And it has a textured black finish by the way, so it's gonna be very durable without adding unnecessary weight.

It weighs about 12 pounds or so. And then one nice detail is the smooth sealed caps. That's gonna help eliminate sharp corners, and it's going to keep moisture out, which is going to help with long-term durability. And then we also have a built-in stabilizer bracket that's going to keep the step from rattling while you're driving. So what that means for you is no annoying noise or movement.

And installation's gonna be pretty quick and easy. This is all going to come unassembled, so you just, you have to put everything together. And I was able to put it together in maybe 10 minutes, maybe, I don't think it even took that long. So I just have it loosely assembled here 'cause I kind of wanted to give you an idea of what the finished product is gonna look like. But once you have everything put together, again, you'll just slide this into your two-inch trailer hitch receiver, and then you'll secure it with a standard 5/8-of-an-inch hitch pin and clip. That's not included with this. So if you don't already have a compatible hitch pin and clip, you can find those here separately at Etrailer. The modular design is also going to match the R5 nerf bar. So this is going to look clean, it's going to look intentional, rather than like an afterthought. So really easy to put together, very easy to install. And like I said, this does have this anti-rattle or stabilizer bar here. So once you get this slid into your trailer hitch receiver, there's a bolt right there that you'll tighten down, and you'll just use whichever hole's gonna work best for your particular application. And then tighten that down, and you'll be good to go, it'll be nice and stable. Instructions are also included to guide you through the easy installation process.
