Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Carr LD Custom Fit Side Step. This is a rugged, square-edged step that's going to provide a five inch drop to help you more easily get into and out of your vehicle. This does have a multi-mount installation that's gonna provide a nice, simple, and precise fit for your vehicle. This will work with the 2009 through 2021 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, 5500 diesel pickup models only, will work with the 2009 through 2021 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 Classic Body Styles with the gas only. and the 2009 to 2010 Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500, the diesel with the chassis cab only.
So if you have any of those models, this is going to fit right in place, the mounting heads attach to your rocker panels. They do include hardware and instructions with clear diagrams on there to help make sure everything's installed properly, walk you through that process. You are gonna have to do a little bit of drilling to get this installed, but that's just gonna give it an extra sturdy connection for your vehicle. This does have a 14 inch wide by four inch deep flat step platform, it is going to extend two inches farther than other steps, so it is gonna be easier to step up on. This does have this non-slip diamond tread, so it's gonna give us excellent stability and traction even if our shoes are wet as we're getting in, it'll be able to provide enough traction for us here.
This does have a weight capacity of 500 pounds, so even for larger people like myself, very sturdy, plenty capable of supporting our weight as we're stepping up in there. This is constructed of a durable, rustproof, die-cast aluminum alloy, so it is going to hold up well for us. We also have this XP3 Xtreme black powder coat finish, it's gonna resist chipping, peeling, and fading, so that powder coat on top of the aluminum, you're not gonna have to worry about rust and that sort of thing, it's gonna be very long lasting for you. It does have a nice lightly textured matte black appearance, and so, it is going to compliment most applications, look really nice for you as well. It is made here in the USA, so you can trust it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US.

I ordered the side steps at approximately 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22 and they were delivered to my house at approximately 11:00 AM on Thursday morning, December 24. The box was carefully packed with steps, bolts, brackets and an instruction sheet. I am converting the steps to mount on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon so I do have some additional design work to do. Extremely satisfied with the company, their pricing, and with their efficiency.
Perfect fit, very sturdy, exactly what I needed for 21 Sprinter
Easy to install and holding up well after a year
These steps work perfectly on my 2015 GMC 3500. The only negative is when I emailed etrailer with some installation questions they did not respond. I figured it out via uTube.
I received the step(s) in good condition and they appear to be strong. However, I do have issues with the installation drawing. I cannot make heads or tails from it. I've looked at other drawings for this item that fit other vehicles and the drawings are spot on. The drawing for my model, (2005 Freightliner Sprinter) is really bad.
I think this is a class operation professional and quality parts I like etrailer .
Mounted step about halfway on front edge of seat. Entering truck, my foot placement is towards the back of the step. Exiting the truck, my foot placement misses the step. I would move the step further back (front edge of step with front edge of seat) if I was to install another set. Mounting hardware does not sit perfectly against frame due to rivets, bolts, and other structural members of the truck. Final location is somewhat dictated by these obstacles. Used supplied and extra shims to fill in gaps between frame and mounting brackets. Final install was solid and product is well made.
I like! Longer and flatter than hoops, easier to use and good traction with muddy or wet boots. Would buy again.

I just needed a clean, simple step for my wife @5’3” to get into our 2010 K1500.

The quality of these steps are great however to say they “fit” the Mercedes Sprinter is quite deceiving. When installed as per the instructions, you have only 5” of ground clearance remaining. My fear is that the first irregular driveway will rip them off as they are so low to the ground.

Fit was perfect, took and hour for both sides, very strong, functional and looks good.
Nice and solid, wife is thrilled that her knees will survive. Install is much easier with a set of transfer punches and a small C-clamp. Have someone stand on it while tightening the bolts. Very happy with them.
Jus' finished the install. The actual step itself seems super quality excited about that. The self tap screws were too weak for the truck steel no matter what approaches were tried so that final step I have to order better screws for this situation. I personally do not like gold... minor detail would be nice if the hardware was black to blend better. Ended up paintin' everything so it blends. Maybe it's a newby speakin' but as a 130lb female it was not easy drillin' through the metal. Upgradin' the drill bits. Everything else seems quality just I could see where someone buys this and thinks it's an easy install. It's work. I would suggest better install videos couldn't find anything online to really guide only videos that the steps should be purchased. Thankfully I have an experienced mechanic in my life I could lean on. We shall see how they last.

The steps are solid and work well. Only down fall is the black finish is coming off on both sets.
Great service
I have really like the larger step to be able to use getting in & out of the truck. It has a nice wide and good surface area to feel comfortable and secure placing my foot. The only negative is that it hangs low. If ground clearance is not a thing for you, than this is a great product.
Very Solid step! I had to make custom brackets in order to allow my wife easier access into my 4x4 truck

I recommend touching up the step with a rust resistant black spray paint. It will help protect the steps.
