Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Tamarack ST225/75R15 radial trailer tire mounted on this 15" black steel mod wheel. Now, this tire and wheel assembly is gonna be great for your RVs, campers, and trailers. This special trailer tire, or ST tire, has sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads. This is created specifically for trailers and it's not intended for use on other vehicles. This radial tire is constructed with double steel belts and double nylon flies for increased durability.
Radial ply tires, as you probably know, are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. Nylon tread firming belt overlays are gonna help prevent tread separation, and the tread wear indicator is gonna make it very easy to see the tread depth. Now, the tire size, as I mentioned at the beginning of our time together and as we have stamped on our tire, this is an ST225/75R15. The section width is 8.78", and the outer diameter, when fully inflated, is gonna be 28.3". This is a load range D tire, meaning it has an 8-ply rating.
The maximum load is 2,540 pounds at 65 PSI. And this has a speed rating of M, indicating a maximum speed of 81 miles per hour. Now, you probably notice the red cap here on the valve stem. That indicates that this assembly has been bead balanced. Balancing beads are a method used to balance tires, and they can be particularly useful on trailer tires, which often don't come pre-balanced.
The beads are placed inside of the tire during production. Then, as the tire rotates, the beads will distribute themselves to counteract any imbalances. That's gonna promote even tire wear and better performance. Going to our wheel, here, the diameter of our wheel is 15". The width of the wheel is 6".
This is a steel modular wheel and it's rated for 2,860 pounds. So, this is built to hold torque under load.
