When youre hitching up, you don't want to crank forever or stack blocks to get the height right. The drop leg gets you close fast, and the side-wind handle keeps your hands clear so you're not banging your knuckles while you crank.
Instead of cranking the jack the full distance, the drop leg gets you most of the way there in one move. Set it close, then finish with the handle. You notice the difference right away if you hitch often or park on uneven ground.
Bolt-on jacks can loosen up, especially on heavier trailers or rough roads. Once this one is welded on, it doesnt shift or move. Youre not coming back later to tighten hardware or deal with it twisting under load.
You feel it when the tongue weight is high. Instead of the jack slowing down or getting hard to turn, it keeps moving. That shows up most when youre hooked to a loaded trailer and need to make small adjustments.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Trailer Valet side wind square direct well jack with foot plate and drop leg. Now this trailer jack is built for handling heavy duty setup, so if you're dealing with a lot of tongue weight, this has you covered. This can support up to 7,000 pounds to keep your trailer steady while you're hitching. And it has an 1,800-pound lift capacity for raising and lowering.
Now, one thing that makes this really user-friendly is the drop leg. So instead of cranking the full height every time, you can quickly adjust the leg. And so I'm going to just remove this safety pin and clip here real quick. So as you can see, that drop leg will be very easy to adjust to where you need it. And then you'll just set that with the pin.
I'm going to put it back on the lowest setting here just to keep this in frame, just like that. So you're going to be able to quickly adjust up to 15 inches with that drop leg, and then use the crank for that fine tuning. So it's going to save a lot of time and effort, especially if you're hooking up often. And then the side winding handle is going to be another nice touch. This is going to let you crank from the side as I'm doing here, so your hand's going to stay clear of the coupler and trailer frame.
It's going to be a lot more comfortable and safer to use. There is a nice rubberized grip here, so you're going to have a firm grip on it, whether you're wearing gloves or not. And as far as size and range goes, when this is fully retracted as I have it here, looks like we're sitting pretty close to 23 and a half inches. And then this is going to extend all the way up to 51 inches. It has 14 inches of screw travel, plus the 15 inch drop leg adjustment.
So it's really going to give you a lot of flexibility for different trailer heights. Installation's going to be permanent. This is going to be a Weldon design, so once it's mounted to your trailer frame, it's not going to go anywhere. And then at the bottom, there is a wide foot plate here that's going to help distribute the weight. It's not going to sink into softer ground like gravel, dirt, or even hot asphalt. Putting my ruler up here, measuring the foot this way, let's call it the length, we are sitting pretty close to eight inches. I'm just going to say maybe seven to three quarters inches long. Again, in regards to the width, about five and seven eight inches wide. But this is going to work well on uneven terrain. Between the drop leg and the foot plate, you're going to be able to adjust the height without needing to stack blocks underneath, so that's another added plus. So we talked about the height, about 23 and a half inches tall or so when it's fully retracted. In regards to the width, including the handle here, it looks like we're sitting about eight and a quarter inches, just measuring from here to here. And then I mentioned the, if you want to include the foot plate with that, that might be kind of tricky to do. Maybe a little bit closer to 10 inches wide from here to here, if that's a measurement that you're wondering about. But overall, it's going to be very simple to use. It's going to be a very reliable jack. But if you happen to have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out. We want to make sure that you're getting exactly what you need.
