Features to Know About

Put Two Hydraulic Legs Under a Heavy Trailer

Heavy gooseneck, cargo, livestock, and equipment trailers can put a lot of weight on the landing gear when you hitch or unhitch. This Bigfoot system gives you 20,000 lbs of combined lifting capacity with two heavy-duty hydraulic legs, each providing 24" of lift, so the pump handles the work instead of a manual crank.

Each jack uses a 10" x 10" pivoting foot to give the trailer a broad contact point on the ground. With two legs supporting the front of the trailer, you also get a wider stance than a single center-mounted jack.

One Pump Runs the Two-Jack System

This is a drive-and-slave setup. One jack carries the 12V hydraulic power unit, while hydraulic lines connect the second jack into the same circuit. One keyed control extends and retracts the system without requiring a separate pump at each leg.

Because both legs share one pump, they cannot be adjusted independently for side-to-side leveling. If you need to raise one side separately, a dual-pump setup is the better fit.

This version uses the standard pump and does not include a built-in manual override. If the trailer loses 12V power, the system does not provide a separate manual way to run the hydraulic pump.

Bring 12V Power and Plan the Mounting

The kit includes the mounting brackets and hardware, hydraulic lines and fittings, battery cable, 80-amp circuit breaker, and weather-resistant keyed control. You supply a 12V battery and slightly less than 3 quarts of Dexron III ATF.

The system calls for at least 4-gauge battery cable and a solid ground through the steel mounting structure or a separate frame ground. The adjustable B-brackets are designed around trailer frame sections from about 3-5/8" to 5-1/2" wide, and the jacks can also mount directly to the frame when your trailer layout calls for it.

Set the jacks so you have at least 8" to 10" of ground clearance at ride height. Mounting hardware is included, but thicker trailer frames may require longer bolts. The pump can also be relocated if needed; longer hydraulic hoses are required and sold separately.

Video Transcript for Review of Bigfoot Trailer Jack - Hydraulic Jack 20K - BF57FR

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Let's take a look at the Bigfoot Hydraulic Jack Set. This is in single pump design, so there's just a pump on the one side and then you have your fall leg on the opposite side. This is a heavy-duty capacity rated at 20,000 pounds, and it has a lot of versatility as well. So whether you're putting it on a cargo trailer, livestock trailer, heavy equipment construction, those kind of things, or even a bumper pull or gooseneck, you have the complete package included.

So you're gonna get what you see here. You have a magnetic remote control and that even includes the lockout here. So if you wanna lock it out, that way, no one can go up or down when you're not around. I highly recommend doing that. Unfortunately, people nowadays think they're funny, like to mess with stuff.

So make sure you're locking that out. You have plenty length of cord to put it wherever you need it to access. You're gonna get, obviously, your hydraulic hoses. Let me come around here this side. All your hardware, you're gonna get these mounting brackets.

This is a bolt-on application, so I do like that in the fact that you can replace this in the future if you ever need to, for whatever reason, without having to worry about going to a weld shop or something, you could just do it yourself. And you're gonna utilize these larger brackets that are pre-welded onto the jack. These measure four inches tall, 7 1/2 inches across. And then you have eight of these, four for each jack leg, and these are about four inches long as well by two inches on the long side. And that with those bolts that are included here are gonna be what you use to bolt this to the trailer.

And of course, you got your hydraulic line hookups here on the side, and those would go- (metal clatters) Oh, excuse me. Those would go from this side over to the main unit there on this side. So again, folks, a nice heavy-duty application. Here's what it looks like inside of that power unit. You have a reservoir there. It requires only three quarts of ATF Dexron III. That is not included, you will need to supply that locally, and you will also need a 12-volt battery source to power the motor on this, again, not included. So the good thing with this is you can mount everything here. It's an all-in-one kit, again, out of the box, ready to be installed. As far as some overall dimensions, from the top of the jack unit down to the foot plate, I got 34 inches tall, fully retracted. When it's fully extended, it's about 55 inches. The foot plate on both of these measures 10 inches long by 10 inches wide. And that's a nice foot plate. They do pivot, so they can pivot a little bit. I've got wedges in 'em, as you can see, just so it won't topple over on me, but they can pivot. So if you have some uneven surface, they're gonna work great with that as well and keep working just fine with that uneven surface as well. And of course, wrapping it up, they have the elegant black powder coat finish. It's considered a glossy finish, but it just looks nice next to the trailers and it looks like a really nice powder coat quality. And as I showed you before, the remote, but I dunno if I mentioned it, it is magnetic, so you can stick it on the side of your trailer frame if you need to. You can move it around, totally up to you. Folks, that's gonna wrap up our quick look together at this Bigfoot Hydraulic Jack Set. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
