Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the Curt SecureLatch lunette ring. This is a nice attachment point for your trailer to mount onto your truck, using that adjustable channel mount on that trailer to get this installed. It does not come with a channel, so you will either have to use one of you already have or purchase one separately. One option would be the part number that's there listed on the screen. That's also going to be from Curt it's just a three-inch wide channel with those adjustable holes, so you can adjust the height up and down.
It can work with just about any kind of channel mount though, if you already have one, just as long as it has that three-inch wide opening. So let's take a closer look at this and make sure that this is going to be the right fit for you. So you can see we're going to have our nice lunette ring here. The secure latch is going to be this pin, so whenever it's not connected to your trailer or not connected to your truck, it's going to prevent anybody from connecting to that trailer and hauling it off. Basically, the way that works is it just blocks that lunette ring from being utilized and it will be secured with a padlock at the bottom. Now it does not come with a padlock, but you can use one that has up to a half-inch shackle bolt diameter, and you can either use it in this configuration or on the front.
So it just kind of depends on what works best for your application. Whenever you are towing, t's just a matter of moving that off to the side does stay in place pretty well there to be out of the way, so you can mount that up to your truck. We'll have two holes to mount this into our channel. Again, it does have a three-inch wide size here, so that works into a three-inch diameter or a three-inch wide channel opening. The hole is three inches wide and the outer diameter of our lunette ring is six inches. The weight capacity is 25,000 pounds.
It is covered by a lifetime limited warranty. You can see on the outside, it is going to have a nice powder coat finish. It's made out of cast iron construction, so it's going to be nice and heavy-duty for our application and should work out pretty well. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Curt SecureLatch lunette ring. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. Again, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com.
Thanks for watching..

Works well and very well made
The quality was top notch. Can’t beat the price on it. Welded in great and hauled my excavator, which weighs 18k, just fine.
Quality product, but it's advertised as an 8 position. But it's only a 4 position. I assumed I could turn it upside down for the other 4 positions. But the directions clearly warn you no to use it in the inverted position. So I bought the 25,000 lb eye because it's only a 2 bolt eye. And it is wider than the channel by 1/8". Still usable but not without modifications which I'm sure voids any warranty.
Heavy duty works great. Just have to buy the bolts separately is the only downside.
While the description says it can be used in the drop or rise position the product itself says otherwise. Also the locking mechanism seems like it would be easy to defeat. With a heavy trailer it would just bend up and at most they wouldn't be able to close the latch. They could still drive off with it and worry about that later
