When your truck is working harder under tow, factory brakes can feel slower to respond. This rear brake upgrade kit pairs severe-duty pads with rotors that manage heat and deliver strong initial bite, so repeated stops stay smooth and predictable.

Highlights

  • Brake Response You Can Feel: Low-metallic pads deliver strong initial bite during loaded stops.
  • Controls Heat During Towing: OEM-style rotor vanes dissipate heat for predictable repeated braking.
  • Less Noise From High-Bite Pads: Multi-layer rubber shims reduce squeal without dulling brake response.
  • Precision Brake Components: Positive-molded pads and balanced rotors promote smooth, even braking.
  • Faster Break-In After Installation: Pad coating and rotor finish promote immediate pedal feel and even bed-in.
  • Everything Needed in One Kit: Includes pads, rotors, hardware, and lubricant for complete installation.

Features to know about

Braking You Can Feel While Towing

Adding trailer weight changes how your truck responds when you press the brake pedal, especially during sudden stops or repeated braking. These brake pads use a severe-duty, low-metallic friction formula that delivers a strong initial bite, while the matched rotors use OEM-style vanes to help manage the added heat towing creates. Together they give your truck a more immediate, predictable braking response that stays consistent through repeated stops.

Smooth Braking Through Repeated Heat Cycles

Brake vibration often traces back to uneven rotor machining or inconsistent braking surfaces, especially after repeated heat cycles. The rotors use computer-controlled castings with fly-cut, mill-balanced construction and meet or exceed OE specifications for machining tolerances. A non-directional cross-hatch finish promotes even pad bed-in, helping your brake service start with uniform contact and maintain smooth pedal feel as your truck accumulates miles.

Premium Materials From the First Stop

New brake components require a break-in period before they deliver their intended performance. These brake pads use positive mold manufacturing to produce consistent density and precise dimensions, then add a bed-in coating that improves initial pedal feel and shortens the break-in process. Multi-layer vulcanized rubber shims help limit the extra noise commonly associated with high-bite low-metallic pads, so your truck delivers responsive braking without unnecessary chatter.

Protection Beyond the Friction Surface

Road spray, moisture, and winter conditions often leave exposed brake components looking rough long before the friction surface wears out. The G3000 premium raw iron rotors use an OnyxBond matte black coating on the hat, vanes, and edges to help reduce rust on exposed non-friction surfaces. Your rotors stay looking better between services without affecting braking performance.

Professional Installation When You Need It

Replacing brake rotors is a job many experienced DIYers can handle, but brakes are one of those projects where being almost right is still wrong. If you would rather leave it to a professional, find an installer near you.

Video Transcript for Review of Timbren Vehicle Brake Parts - Rear Wheels BES Brake Upgrade Kit - T84EV

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Timbren Rear Wheel BES brake upgrade kit. Now this kit has been designed to fit your 2020 to current Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and then your 2020 to 2025 3500 with single rear wheels. Now on custom-fit parts such as this kit, I do recommend going through our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer, pop in the year, make and model of your vehicle and answer any other questions that it might have for you. And our fit guide will confirm if this kit will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you.

Now upgrading your suspension can improve the ride quality of your truck, help reduce that sag during your heavy-load while you're hauling your heavy-loads or a heavy trailer, and it can also make your truck feel more stable when you're towing or hauling, but it doesn't reduce the extra workload placed on your factory brakes. If you've ever felt like your truck is taking longer to stop when you're towing a heavy trailer or maybe your brakes are wearing out faster than you expected or that added weight is making the braking feel less confident, that's where this BES brake upgrade kit is going to come into play. This kit is designed to give your truck stronger, more consistent braking when it's carrying those heavier loads. These feature these low metallic OnyxBite brake pads that are going to provide a strong initial bite and eliminate brake-fade that occurs with frequent stopping when you're towing. So you're gonna notice more confident, consistent braking performance on every road trip.

These multi-layered rubber shims are going to help keep the brake pad noise to a minimum without sacrificing braking performance. On your screen, got a few photos there. The first photo is just an example of one of these shims from Timberland showing you the construction of them. And then the other picture there, just taking a closer look at the construction of the brake pad itself. So those positive molded pads paired with these precision balance rotors are gonna give you smooth, even braking and more consistent pedal feel.

Speaking of these rotors, these are OEM-style vented rotors as you can see here, and they're gonna help dissipate heat during repeated stops to help reduce brake-fade when towing. These are premium G3000 raw-iron rotors and they feature Timbren's OnyxBond matte-black coating on the hat, veins and outer-edges. And as you know, heat is the enemy of brakes. So this OnyxBond coating has a heat threshold of up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 67% better than the standard Geomet coating most commonly used on OEM parts. This coating also helps protect them from rust caused by road spray, moisture and winter driving, keeping your brakes looking cleaner between surfaces without affecting braking performance.

The pads also feature a bed-end coating indicated by the blue lines there that you see on the pads. This is gonna transfer to the rotor to protect it during the first stop. So you're gonna be able to enjoy that consistent braking performance sooner after the installation. Installation's pretty straightforward because you are going to get basically everything that you need. You're gonna get the brake pads, the hardware, the rotors, the wear sensor wire and lubricant. However, if you think you would like some help with insulation, we can help you with that. On this product page underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our installer locator. Click that link, answer the questions that it has for you and that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to help you with the install. But overall, if you've already upgraded the suspension on your truck and you're getting that smoother, more controlled ride, this brake kit is going to compliment that by addressing the other half of the equation, if you will. This is going to give your truck the stopping power and the confidence to better handle the extra weight of towing or hauling. So together with your suspension enhancement system, this is gonna give you a safer, more capable towing setup. I think it's gonna wrap up our look today. Again, my name's Andy. Thank you for joining me.
