Front Suspension Support

A heavy front load, such as a snowplow or a winch, can cause front-end sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the front axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your rear axle, your rear tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy front load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your rear tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs-SS68RR

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for your front axle. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1994 to 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 four wheel drive trucks, also fits the 2011 and newer Ram 2500 and 3500 four wheel drive trucks. And on a custom fit part like this, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website.

Use the fit guide, put in your year model vehicle and it'll show if this'll work for your application. Now these helper springs will upgrade your vehicle's front suspension for improved driver control and comfort. They'll support any heavy front end loads to keep your vehicle level and they'll help to absorb bumps and shocks, help minimize sway. They do offer progressive load control, which means the springs will compress according to the weight of your cargo. So if you have a lighter load, the springs compress easily at first for a nice soft engagement and less bumpy ride. And if you have a heavier load, the springs will compress by as much as 80% for support.

These springs do work independently from each other to compensate for off center loads, help reduce body roll during any sharp turns. And they are made of a durable microcellular urethane. This urethane will work in temperatures from negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and this will resist damage that can be caused by oils, road salts and UV rays. They do offer minimal lateral expansion, meaning the springs will compress vertically instead of to the sides so that they aren't easily damaged when operating in tight spaces. And of course they are maintenance free. There's no tubing to run or air pressure to monitor like with air springs.

These are a simple no-drill installation. Basically after removing your factory jounce bumper from the vehicle, these will install into the factory jounce bumper retaining cup. It does come with a nice set of instructions that'll describe how these do install. Does include the two jounce style springs. If you notice, one of them has a notch to it.

That is for the driver's side. That will tell you that in the instructions. This part is made in the USA. A few specs on this, the weight capacity at 50% compression is 800 pounds. And a note, these SumoSprings will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. But that should do it for the review on the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for the front axle.

  • Recommended Front Mounted Trailer Hitch For A 2024 Ram 3500 DRW Diesel
Hey Chris, Our Fitguide can be a bit confusing sometimes. Essentially the whole category is broken down into whether they fit diesel or non-diesel models. Since the EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH37FR fits both gas and diesel models it has both listings attached to it. You would be able to install this hitch on your 2024 Ram 3500 DRW Diesel. If you plan on hauling some heavy items or using a snow plow then I recommend also installing some front end suspension...

  • Recommended SumoSprings for my 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 with Snow Plow Attached
On your 2017 Ram 2500 I recommend using the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SS68RR with the 800 lb. capacity. Because this is occasional use or winter use and not a constant load the softer springs aren't going to effect the unloaded quality much at all. If you were to use the 1,200 lb. version part # SSF-302-47 it will eliminate more sag but of course will deteriorate the unloaded ride quality more than the 800 pounders. It is a great question and one that we actually discussed...

  • Recommended Front and Rear Sway Bars for a 2019 Ram 2500
Rene, you unfortunately are not going to be able to use both air bags and SumoSprings like # SS68RR at the same time. The air bags fit inside the coil springs on the bag so there would not be room to also have the SumoSprings. Even if you were able to use the two at the same time, you'd have an unbelievably stiff ride that it would actually have negative effects. You could upgrade your rear anti-sway bar and add one in the front and that would definitely help keep you stable on the highway....
