If you're curious about how the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform 6 would look like on your 2019 Subaru Forester, well we're gonna cover all of that today. And we're focusing here on how this will interact with your vehicle, my tips and tricks on where to put it to get the most out of this platform so that you can see if this is the right fit for you and your adventures. What we have here today is the Pioneer 6 Platform in size 59 inches by 49 inches. And you can see how nicely this fits on the Forester with where I have it installed. We have a little bit of overhang, but not too much where it sits too far past the sides of the Forester, and also a good amount of length without covering all of your sunroof.

Now, since you have raised rails on the Forester, you can adjust this platform as well as when you put it together, how it will sit on your vehicle. But in my personal opinion, I think this is the better of the fits for compatibility. You also have to keep in account your hatch clearance. So if you have longer items on your roof like a kayak, obviously you would want that a little bit further forward. But if you have platform on your roof, you wanna make sure that you're not too far back where you can't fully open your hatch.

As you can see here, plenty of clearance. We could still go back a couple inches if we really wanted to. That's something that I've noticed not everyone thinks about when they install their platform, so hopefully you'll be mindful of that moving forward. Included with this system is gonna be your platform rack as well as your towers that clamp around the raised rails. If you already have a Rhino-Rack roof rack, the good news is that your towers are cross-compatible.

You could just reuse the towers and attach them to the platform. Make sure just to get the platform separately here at etrailer. If you're starting from scratch, then you can see how this fits around your rails of your Forester, creating a very strong, secure fit. You're going to get four of these and this will create that base for your platform base. Of the different platform racks I've worked with, the Pioneer 6 is definitely gonna be on the more aerodynamic and sleek racks. So, we can see this curve angle to it, as well as its very low profile. So, how much height will this add to your Forester Well, if you we inchesre to measure from the sunroof while it's closed to the top of the platform, I have it measuring at around four and a half inches, which is very good. That's gonna be about where most crossbars are going to sit. You have a really good profile there while having a lot of clearance and space for other types of cargo. Now, once you start loading things on top of the platform, be mindful of the additional height that will now add as you go through your garage doors or drive throughs. So this is those slats look like up close. Now, if you're building from scratch, try to get accessories that match the Pioneer Platform 'cause those will be designed to work with the front to back orientation of the slats. Now, this could still work with some other brands' accessories, just be mindful of trying to get channel mount accessories and where your accessory will now mount. There is an underbar as well that runs side to side, which is used for the towers, but could also be used for some accessories. And as you use this, you do have that strong, flat base that a lot of people strap things down to. Then you also have this really high-quality coating on it to resist scratches and scuffs. So be welcome to like use this out in the sun, in the rain storms, things like that. It is designed to hold up to the elements and stay on your Forester. For those who wanna open up your sunroof, well, you totally can. You can see here as the sunroof opens up, you get a little bit of height, but all the clearance between the sunroof and the platform. Now, be mindful that the platform will limit some of the visibility as well as openness of the roof, but you can still keep your hands up in the air and feel that wind through your fingers if you want to. You can have the best of both worlds. So if you're looking for a platform rack for your Forester and you don't wanna do that crazy drilling, well the Pioneer 6 Platform is a great option for the Forester. It's very sleek, very lightweight, you still get most of the features of your Forester like access to your sunroof, being able to open up your hatch, as well as being able to load up the top of your car with all kinds of gear for all your adventures. And that's something that the Pioneer 6 does a little bit better than some other platform racks.
