Sometimes you just want to load up and go without spending hours figuring out complicated hardware. This rack’s no-drill design makes setup quick and straightforward. The brackets clamp right onto the raised side rails using only hand tools, then the crossbars tighten down with the included hardware. You’ll have a secure platform ready for your next outing in minutes.
When you’re carrying kayaks, SUPs, or camping gear, you need bars that won’t flex or shift under weight. These square steel crossbars are built tough and finished with a black powder coat that resists rust and wear from the elements. With a 165-lb weight capacity—always observing your vehicle’s roof load limit—you can count on solid support for long trips and rough weather.
This rack fits easily into your outdoor routine. The square bar design works with traditional clamp-on mounts, so you can use the kayak carriers, ski racks, or cargo boxes you already have. Whether it’s a couple of boats for the lake or luggage for a cross-country drive, this setup gives you flexibility without needing special adapters.
The 51" long crossbars provide plenty of space for gear while keeping a neat, compact look on top of your vehicle. The flush bar style keeps everything tight to the rails with no awkward overhang, so the rack blends in while staying sturdy and ready for action wherever you’re headed.

What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out the Exposed roof rack system, so this is gonna be square bars that mount onto your crossbar rails and it's gonna allow you to put more accessories up on your roof. We got some ski carriers on there today. Let's check out how it works. Now Exposed rack, roof rack system's gonna be inch and a quarter square two.
So that means inch a quarter here inch a quarter there on each flat side of the tube. Now it's gonna be black powder coat steel. So it's gonna hold up to rust and corrosion. If you wanna leave it on your vehicle at all times the elements aren't gonna bother it. It also has a weight capacity of 165 pounds.
So just keep that in mind with whatever you wanna load up here. Let's take a closer look at the bars and see that they are that square design, so there's no holes on top, so that's gonna keep any water from collecting on the inside. Another thing that's gonna help with wind noise is gonna be the end cap here. So it's not just an empty bar. It's gonna be closed off so that no rain can get in there from the top or even the sides.
The bars ,and brackets, and even the clamps are gonna have a sturdy steel design with a black powder coat finish. It'll hold up to those elements when you leave 'em up on your roof. It's got a Z bracket design that clamps down on the bars. So with the shims and the padding in there it's gonna not scratch up your cross rails either. So you have to put those in there to get that to fit on certain vehicles.
Each vehicle's a little bit different but there is protection there, so it's not just clamping down on the bar. There's several different versions of this roof bar kit, so make sure you get the right one for your vehicle and use our fit guide. Comparing this to some other roof racks, I mean, this works it's on there. Nice and tight. The clamp system's a little bit different. You see, how you can shake the whole vehicle back and forth. So there's no rattling or movement right there myself.I would probably look into maybe the N.O. or rhino rack options. It's more of an arrow bar design that's gonna work with more accessories and be quieter down the line. And you kind of get more for what you're getting here in this system, but this is still gonna work if you have some clamp on systems that you just want to get on your roof. One thing we did notice on this one versus some of the other roof rack options is that sometimes the base kits have those parts that Mount right here on the bar those take up quite a bit of the bar, so it really limits you on where you can put the clamp on accessories. You can see this one that's plate is more right there towards the bar. It only adds a little bit to it so you don't have the big plastic end cap here that would be in the way that you would normally have. So that gives you a little bit more room to move those accessories towards the end, of course with Exposed racks there's other options. There's the other ones, the other bars that have the holes on the top that accept their specific accessories. Those are more for Jeeps or Broncos and that's a pretty cool design. I like that you can just drop in their accessories with the pushpin and it stays in place. If you already have those on another vehicle I would suggest getting the Exposed rack system with the holes up top. That way you don't have to buy all new accessories cuz that's kind of a pain. If you have to do that otherwise though I think this is gonna work, and I think that does it thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

This item is well made and strong. Hauled 2 kayaks 1200 miles without any issues.
LOVE! Easy install, done by myself in about half an hour, love the clean look, will be shopping for accessories soon :)
They delivered 2 rear bracket packages instead of including the front and rear. So I’ve not been able to install it yet. I’m thinking of sending it back as o couldn’t put it on to use it when I wanted to. Sorry about that. But we were pretty disappointed
Reasonably priced. Good fit on a Jeep Gladiator. Very durable.
These racks are well made and easy to assemble. They are easy to install if you have running boards or a step ladder.
Excellent customer service. Mounting bolts were missing from the kit. Had them in two working days from emailing. Immediate response to email.
I have a bestop fast back soft top the front bar fits with no issue the rear bar will fit barely I cut 1/2 off each end of the rear bar and make for 3/4 of clearance on each side
Gives you the utility of a hardtop with the freedom of a soft top. Awesome product! Hauls my Old Town Sportsman kayak (76lbs) all summer long.
Everything that etrailer was involved in was awesome. Great communication. The only negative was the condition of the exterior box and how the carrier handled the package. The external and internal packing had been damages by the carrier.
Thank you etrailer for having Stacey as a customer service provider. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. She helped me till we found the perfect roof rack for my Kayaks. You have a new customer because of her.
Installation was a breeze using the Jeep's rain gutters. Very solid mounting. Be sure to get the snap-in attachments for quick add/remove of whatever is being mounted on the rack. EXR's customer service is top-notch! And etrailer.com's shipping was incredibly fast for such a large box (about the size of a bicycle box).
Excellent customer service! My initial order arrived missing one of the two pieces shipped. The box the piece was shipped in seemed to have gotten mangled in transit and the piece was missing. I worked with the folks at etrailer and they promptly shipped me the part again…received it yesterday!
etrailer always ships quickly and I've ordered from them multiple times. In this case, some of the hardware was missing from the original shipment (from the manufacturer). etrailer quickly responded and got me the parts I needed in less than a week, and the new roof rack looks great.
The rear bar runs directly over the satellite antenna and interferes with the signal. Pins instead of bolts to hold them in the mounting brackets would be better so the bars can be removed when on in use.
Great product and will hold a rooftop tent with easy. Had an issue with shipping but e-trailer was quick to resolve the issue. If you have a Jeep Wrangler this is what you want. Don’t buy the full roof rack that mounts to your Jeep it’s not needed.
So far, so good. Just received these and they appear solid and beefy-they are heavier than most. The package they came in was mutilated and had obliviously been re-taped. Both of the cardboard tubes had their end caps blown out and the cross bars loose in the package probably caused the damage to the box. To their credit, only 1 of the plastic end caps showed slight damage. Both inner boxes containing the mounting brackets appeared to have been cut with a box cutter. The bolts used to connect the brackets to the crossbars were missing. I called customer service and was told replacements would be shipped. I have not yet received them and as such have not mounted the rack on my ‘21 Gladiator and cannot speak to the process or fit. UPS has done the testing on the finish and I’m happy to report the crossbars passed! I’m looking forward to the increased versatility these should provide.
Easy install, perfect fit. Mounted my ski rack and was able to clear the garage door. It would not clear with the Thule load bars. the low profile is quieter too.
First off, I had never heard of etrailer.com until my search for this specific product led me here, but I am sure glad I did! As someone who is in business development and marketing; I am mostly let down by the lack of customer service these days, this was not the case with etrailer.com, specifically with my representative Ms. Amy E. This product was on backorder through the manufacturer, but Amy kept me informed through the entire process, and she made me feel like she cared about my business. Fantastic job Amy E.! People buy from people, and you are a shining example of how it should be done! Oh, and the product works great too. Thanks for an awesome experience!
I planned on ordering direct from sms but with etrailer.com shipping was free.I placed the order online it was on back order as soon as it came in it was shipped. I had tracking numbers and great support from etrailer.com.if I need a product they sell I will definitely use them again.
I bought this roof rack about a year ago specifically to hold a Smittybuilt Overlander XL tent. I liked that you didn't have to drill holes in your roof to install the rack. I also liked that it put the weight of the tent centered over the Jeep rather than over the back which is where most roof racks are installed.
We've taken many overlanding and camping trips with it and so far it's been great. The quality is good and it's been problem-free.
The only negative to speak of is that you lose the ability to open the top over the driver and passenger, but the trade-off is worth it for me.
Looks very sharp and it’s very practical, not to mention super easy to install. Love the fact it has easy to snap optional accessory.
From Md zig zagging across the country, down to the keys. No problems. Kept the straps tight with 2 Hobie kayaks. Rode on rough roads with Jeep with kayaks on the roof without issues. Highly recommended.
Best customer service in the industry Installed without instructions as there were none to be found, but pretty intuitive with a little know how. They look nice, but I haven’t had the opportunity to test out performance as I am still waiting for my rooftop tent (on back order).
I bought the ER rack for my 2011 2-door Jeep JK. It is high quality, sturdy, and very quick and simple to install or remove. I have used it to transport my windsurf board and mast 20 - 30 times at highway speed with no issues.
Rack spacing for a 2-door Jeep is 24 inches, which is adequate for my 9.6 ft board.
Note: I had to buy nuts and extra spacers to bolt the front rack to my Jeep frame. Since I bought the Jeep used, it's possible that some pieces had been removed from the rollbar.
