Springs connect the front and back grommet holes of the rug underneath your RV step to give you a clean, seamless look. Hey everybody, Jared, from etrailer.com. Today, we'll take a quick look at the Outrigger exterior straight RV step cover in black from Prest-O-Fit. This is for one straight step cover which measures in a decent size 23 inches wide by adjustable 8 to 11 inches deep. It's a heavy duty outdoor carpet step rug which wraps around your straight RV steps. It's going to give you a place to wipe your dirt mud, grass, and other debris off of your feet. It has a microfiber rib texture for increased traction.
So you can climb in and out of your RV without fear of slipping, it's easy to clean, just hose them off allow them to air-dry and you're good to go. It's a solid design which covers the gaps and holes and steps. Your pet might have some issues on easiness with stairs because some stairs are metal and some pets don't like the idea of what it sounds like when their paws or their nails are touching those metal surfaces. And also they have gaps in them. Then perhaps it bothers your pet when they can see through them.
Well, this has to be a good way to cover those holes and gaps while creating a firm surface to ease your pet's concerns. You take a look at the rug itself. We can see it is that black color. It's actually called Onyx black. Some people might see it as a bold color.
Other people might see it as that top spectrum of that neutral frame. Well, now this isn't too bad for me. I do really like the way it feels too. That micro rib texture for increased traction feels good on my hands. And perhaps if it feels good on your feet you might have an opportunity to walk around your RV site barefoot, if you wish.
Well, that's what it looks like when it's going to sit on your stairs, let's flip it over. See how it's fastened. First thing you're gonna notice is these grommet holes to be the front. This would be the backside of the underneath. The reason for the these, again as we mentioned is adjustable from 8 to 11 inches for deep steps. And they're fastened together by these zinc plated rust resistant springs. We'll attach that real quick and show you right here and check out that spring tension. So pretty, pretty heavy duty. I think they're going to be nice. And it's going to fasten the step on here. Remove that and take a look at the inside. You're going to notice that there's a texture change. Right here, it is a firm rubbery substance under here, synthetic material and I believe this is going to help with that UV mold and mildew resistance of the step covers. Go head, flip that back around here. Take a look. Again, if this is not necessarily the color for you you're not a big fan of the bolder black colors or being at the top of the neutral perspective here. We do have other colors here that each are not calm. And also if you need something different you need a curve step cover instead of a straight step cover. These were installed on a 2022 Winnebago View with electric steps. I was concerned that they might be too thick for proper operation of the steps. They were easy to install and the steps worked as they should. Etrailer does it again!
Stair covers were exactly what I expected, the instructions are very clear on installation, it took me roughly 15 to 20 minutes to install five stair covers and shortly thereafter, all three of our small dogs were going up and down them without any problem.
In the pictures, we did offset them to one side since when the fifth wheel door is open you don’t have access to that much of the stair so it’s actually centered for the amount of stair we walk up

This rug was so easy to install. It works great for trapping dirt and keeping it out of your rv.
Product was exactly as described. The process was very easy and arrived ahead of time.
Very well made. Suggest installing covers w/ springs toward the front lip of step rather then rear. This helps 4 tread stairs "nest" when storing.
Fits perfectly. Color and texture are on point. Time will tell how it holds up on our coach.
adding these to my metal steps remove the issue of me slipping off the steps. Also, easier for our dogs to get down and up into the RV
Purchased 2 for our class A motorhome. These actually replaced the ones I previously purchased. They've lasted for 2 years. Excellent quality! I don't however use the springs it comes with. I find they are too difficult to stretch to hook into the grommet. I use black wire ties instead. Works great.
This a a good wide step cover. It was used to cover two 30 x 11 steps on a ‘14 Tiffin Allegro. The Outrigger was paired with 2 Prest-O-Fit landing steps that each have 2 Velcro strips to secure interior rig in place.

The videos of the options available for the width and depth of our steps were extremely valuable. We selected the “Outrigger” version which provides a softer feel. Although the “Astro turf” style would clean better, we felt that bare feet would appreciate the less aggressive texture. The fit and finish of the product is spot on. In order to get a straight pull on the tension securing springs with an 11” step depth, the grommets face outward on the edge of the step. This is not a problem for us although it is worth mentioning.
