Keep your food and drinks cold in this refrigerator during long, off-the-grid camping trips. 12V Power runs off your RV's batteries. French doors and freezer drawer with stainless steel construction.Replaced the factory dometic refrigerator with the 12 volt everchill. Wished the camper I have would've had this in it new. Looks and works great. More room in fridge and freezer than the domestic. Would recommend to anyone.
I have had the unit now for about a week. It has been running in an 88 degree environment, and has, so far, been flawless. I have a temperature monitor in it, and the reported temperature matches the temperature on the digital display in the refrigerator for both the freezer and fridge sections.
I also have a power meter on it, as I wanted to know how many watts it pulls max, and steady state. It seems to run at 2 different speeds, with one speed taking about 60w and the other taking about 100w-105w. The most I have ever seen it pull was 131w on the initial chill, and that was a spike, not continuous. Even in 88 degrees, it does shut off too.
We are getting ready for the first trip with it, and it does not have any door latch mechanism other than the default magnet closure, which is fairly strong. We will see if it gets docked a star or not after the trip if the doors come open.
The refrigerator is working well. Had some problems originally because I used too small wires to connect the refrigerator. I am using the refrigerator in an off grid cabin with solar power and adequate batteries to ensure continuous operation. The refrigerator uses approximately 150 amp hours per day depending on the ambient temperature and how often you open the door and for how long etc. Your results may vary.
so far so good
