Hello, everybody, this is Jeff with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this replacement six amp diode for the Blue Ox Tow bar wiring kit. This is for a quantity of one diode. Now the diodes are going to prevent electrical feedback and damage it can cause to your towed car's electrical components. This part here will act this part of a complete wiring system to connect your RV's tail brake and turn signal lights to the towed vehicle's light system. This diode is a nice molded and sealed keeps out any moisture.

This part contains one diode. It is six amps. Now we do also sell this, if you need more than one, we do sell it available as a 12 pack. And that's part number BX88159. And it's listed on this product page as a related product.

The diode works great. I have used them in other flat tow projects as long as 5 years ago and they are still working. The problem I have is this is the wrong product for my 2026 Ford Ranger. After many unproductive phone calls and me doing some diagnoses I found out that the Park light and Stop light uses the same wire. The Ranger Body Control module changes the voltage on the wire to make it brighter for stop or lower voltage for Park lights. I called back and I was able to talk to Daylon H. He was able to hopefully get the right parts sent to me (smart Diode). After looking at it I think it will work. In all fairness I talked to Demco and Roadmaster and they could not help me either. This is my 3rd e-trailer flat tow install. The other 2 installs went very well. This one not as well I will have over a month on this install. I'm not your regular DYI. I am a retired 34 year mechanic that specialized in electronic repair.

Roadmaster recommends using the smart diodes (like # RO54FR) on your 2026 Ranger.

The Blue Ox Accessory Kit for the Aventa LX Tow Bar, the extra (2) Diodes, the Fuse By-Pass Switch, the Aventa LX Tow Bar and the Patriot Brake Unit all arrived in tact and in a timely manner. I really appreciate the help in defining what I need to tow my '09 Yukon behind our new Newmar Dutch Star. So far the wiring is complete - and works! I hope to have the Tow Bar hardware done this week - i'll try and get a picture. Thanks again!
