Your propane tank needs a valve to control vapor leaving the container and feeding the propane system. This service valve installs in a 3/4" tank port and gives you a female POL outlet plus a handwheel to shut off propane at the tank.
The propane system needs a service valve between the container and the line supplying the rest of the system. This valve threads into a compatible ASME or DOT container and provides a female POL outlet for vapor withdrawal. The handwheel lets you open the supply during use or shut off propane at the container when the system needs to be isolated.
This service valve does not include an integral pressure-relief valve. It is made for containers equipped with a separate pressure-relief valve sized for the capacity of the tank.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this MEC Propane Tank Service Valve. Now this propane tank service valve is basically the main shutoff and vapor withdrawal point between a propane tank and the rest of the propane system. This is designed for compatible ASME and DOT propane containers. It's going to give you a hand wheel, so you're going to be able to turn the propane supply on or shut it off directly at the tank.
For fitment, this valve has a three-quarter inch male NPT connection that threads into the propane container. And then on the outlet side, it has this female POL connection. So the supply line will need a compatible male POL fitting. This is specifically intended for propane vapor withdrawal, not liquid withdrawal, and there's no dip tube. The valve itself uses a one-piece forged brass body with dual O-ring packing.
Another useful feature is the replaceable universal bonnet assembly. Instead of the entire valve necessarily being the only serviceable unit, the bonnet assembly is designed to be replaceable for future repairs. Now this valve does not have a built-in pressure relief valve, so the propane container does need to be equipped with a separate pressure relief valve that is properly sized for that tank.
