Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Flair-It PEX Straight Coupler Fitting

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Flair-It PEX adapter fitting. This adapter is gonna help connect your pipes and hoses in your RV's freshwater plumbing system. So whether you're needing to repair a leaky connections or if you're needing to install new lines, this is gonna do a great job of connecting those hoses or pipes for you. This will work with your PEX pipes, the old gray PB pipes, as well as the polyvinyl tubing. You can see, we do have the half-inch barbed connection on both ends that's going to fit your hoses and tubes with a half-inch inner diameter.

So if you are needing to connect two hoses or tubes with half-inch diameter, this is gonna be the right connection for you. The barbed connection here with the compression end is going to allow you to get this installed without having to use any tools. So basically, the way this works, you'll slide that compression end over your pipe. And then, that barbed end will be inserted into your pipe. Now that might take some doing, you might have to wiggle it back and forth, and apply quite a bit of pressure to get that fully inserted.

But once it is, you can just slide that compression fitting over, and then get it threaded in place. You'll do the same thing on the other side. And that is gonna create a very solid connection for you. I actually tried this out myself the other night on a very similar fitting. We had some spare PEX pipe laying around, so I put the pipe in there.

I was really, really impressed at how easy it was to get that threaded down, give you a nice solid connection. I was able to do it by hand. But then when I want to take it off, I actually have to put it in a vice grip and I used a couple of tools to really get that off because it was just a solid connection. So very impressed with the ease of installation and how solid of a connection it is. One thing I will point out is that getting that barbed end into your tubing or pipe, it does take some effort, you gotta really push on it.

So if you're gonna be working in a confined space, under a cabinet or something like that, if possible, I would recommend trying to get the connection point put onto your pipes before you get into that confined space just so you have more leverage that you can work with. But once you it's installed, it is gonna be very solid for you. Now this is a polyoxymethylene construction so it is gonna be very durable and resistant to stress cracking. I do wanna point out that this is just one of many kinds of connections that we have available here at etrailer.com. So if you're looking over your project, thinking about where you're gonna run your lines, and what kind of connections you're gonna need, I'd recommend taking a look at those other connection options that we have. Make sure that you're gonna have everything that you need for your project. And that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

It has become almost impossible to find these items. I have an old mobile home that has been remodeled and all water piping has been replaced with the old gray plastic pipe. These are the only style fittings that I have found that will fit. I am retired and cannot afford to replace all the piping so I just keep patching.
