Hi, everyone, Aiden here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this pintle mounting plate for two-inch hitches. This is gonna serve as the attachment point for a pintle hook, and like I said, work with your two-inch hitches. Let's check it out. And here's how that pintle hook would mount up. Lining up with four of the holes in one of two positions.

There's really not a whole lot of height adjustment here, and that kind of just encompasses the whole platform here. There's not a whole lot of adjustment and it's not as high on the weight capacity, sporting only 6,000 pounds of maximum trailer weight that it can pull and 600 pounds of maximum tongue weight. That's not like it's a small amount, but just in comparison to the rest of these pintle mounting plates, it's on the lower side. So if you just need a simple setup for one trailer that you know is not that heavy, then something like this would probably be perfect for you because you maybe just don't need all that adjustment up and down and if you just don't need a heavyweight capacity either. And some clearances to keep in mind here.

From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer face of the mounting plate is gonna be 7 1/2 inches. That'll give you a better idea of how much vehicle clearance we have, and especially if you do have something like a spare tire mounted on the back that's gonna be obstructing, that's gonna help you get a little bit more distance from it. You can, of course, get these platforms with much longer shanks if you need them, but this one sits at a pretty good spot, and we'll take it out of the hitch for this next one. But from that same point to the closest point of obstruction here on the small reinforcement plate on the back is gonna be five inches. It does not come included with a pin and clip, though, so you will need to provide that yourself.

And I'd strongly recommend just getting a locking pin. Anytime an accessory doesn't come with one, I think it's just worthwhile to invest right out of the gate with a locking pin to keep your stuff secure. I'd recommend the etrailer Locking Hitch Pin. You can match it up to that 5/8-inch diameter hole and match it for that two-inch hitch spam. That's really all there is to it.

Like I said before, if you don't need a super heavy weight capacity, then there's no reason to get this really large, heavy duty, solid shank pintle mount if you don't need it. If you want to future-proof a bit, sure, that's fine, but I think for a lot of people, something like this is gonna be perfectly fine. It's a lot more lightweight because of the hollow shank on there, and it's just smaller. If you don't need all the height adjustment, then why bother having it take up that much space It's just gonna be a pretty simple solution to get you started with a pintle hook on your smaller trailers.
