Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this four foot long SmartPlug marine power cord. Has the 30 amp female SmartPlug on this end and the 30 amp male twist lock connector on the other end. Now, this cord will let you connect your boat to shore power with the SmartPlug multi-point locking system connector. So well, on this end, we'll have the 30 amp male twist lock connector and that'll plug into your 30 amp female twist type inlet at your dockside receptacle.
And then on this one, we're gonna have the 30 amp female SmartPlug connector and this'll plug into a 30 amp male SmartPlug inlet on your boat. Want to zoom in here so you can see the connectors up close. You can see this is the SmartPlug multi-point locking system that'll ensure a nice, solid connection. You can see the levers on the side. If you push both those levers, that'll let you unlock it.
And when you push this into a SmartPlug, it'll automatically lock it in place. You can see it is a nice sleeved design, so it keeps the weight and the tension off of your electrical pins. The body of the plug is what will bear the weight. Helps keep the points of your electrical contact secure. And you could see it is a straight-in connection of the SmartPlug male end, so it makes plugging in very easy even when it's dark out.
They do use triple weatherproof seals on this to prevent water corrosion, overheating. And the other neat feature on this is if you look at the top of the plug right here, that's actually an LED reversed polarity indicator light, and this will confirm correct connection. So basically, when you plug this in, if there's no light showing, that means you don't have any power on that connection. If you plug it in and it's showing blue light, that means it's normal power. You're all ready to go.
If you plug it in and it's just showing a red light and a blue light, that means it's reversed polarity, so you just need to get it switched around. And then if you plug it in, it's just showing red, that's a dangerous reversed polarity, so you need to take care of that right away. Also, if you notice, it comes with this nice snap-on clear cap. And what that does, you just push it on there and that'll protect those terminals from the weather or the elements when it's not plugged in. And also what's nice is being clear, if you look, you can see right through it. And it'll, they stamp on the ends here, the type of plug that it is. So, you can look at it and see if that's the correct plug you need. And then again, to remove the cap, just push in on the side levers, pull your cap off and you're ready to plug it in. Construction on this SmartPlug, the external metals are a marine-grade 316 stainless steel, the electrical pins are a nickel-plated brass, and all the plastics they use on this are UV and heat resistant. The other side, we mentioned, is your standard male twist lock connector. Offers a nice, secure twist lock connection. If you notice on the cord, the whole cord is a bright orange color. Gives you high visibility. This part is made in the USA. Few specs again, total length is four feet, the amperage is 30 amps, and the voltage is 125 volts. And again, just put your cap back on. But that should do it for the review on the four foot long SmartPlug marine power cord, the 30 amp female SmartPlug, and on the other end, the 30 amp male twist lock connector..
Came quickly and is good quality.
Excellent, fast service, complete with detailed package tracking. I will definitely shop there again.
It arrived in great shape. This will allow me to travel with a lighter weight 30 Amp line for my 50 Amp Airstream when I have no need to run both A/C units. For a 4ft cord, the price was disappointing, hence only 4 stars, but it was what I needed, and I am happy it was available from eTrailer. The 50 Amp cords are like carrying a python.
Very fast delivery & great communication during the whole process!
Worked as described.
Outstanding customer service!
It is what I needed….but mega expensive. The delivery was as promised and the product arrived in good shape. Once agin I am pleased to do business with etrailer.
The SmartPlug is a great innovation, far better and more secure than the old style, twist connectors, and safer for your RV or boat. This new pigtail makes it even easier to switch to the SmartPlug since now there is no need to cut the end of a perfectly good shore power cord in order to adapt to this superior system. Plus you add 4 feet to the length of your cord. This is the second boat I have converted to the SmartPlug system.
Exactly what I needed to be able to use my old 30 amp twist lock cables with the new rv
