Westin's HDX headache rack has a round top bar for leaning ladders, lumber and other long loads up against it. Want to carry your gear more securely? You can create a full ladder rack system by adding a single, side-mounted ladder rack upright (sold separately) at the rear of your truck bed.
To install this headache rack, drill into the top of your truck-bed rails, lining the holes up with the pre-drilled holes in the base of the rack. The front stake pockets (closest to the cab) will be covered by the bottom of this rack.

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Westin HDX headache rack in a nice white powder coated steel finish. Folks, this is a custom fit application, so please make sure you're double checking the fit guide here at etrailer.com. On the homepage where it says my vehicle information, there are things like your make and model. Be sure you're getting the right parts the first time.
Now I have limited space today, so I went ahead and just put up the main section of this headache rack, but I want to go ahead and throw up an image of all the hardware you're gonna get along with those two Westin side brackets as well. So this makes it easy to install and its compatible crossover style truck bed toolboxes. Everything here is fully welded. It's a one piece rack. It's super, super strong, heavy duty.
Again, it's a white powder coated steel construction. It's gonna resist rust. And these are louvered here for being able to see out. And you got 1, 2, 3, 4 mounts up top here. Maybe you wanna do some kind of a tie down system or lights or something like that.
You have that option. You also, coming from the side here, you have on both sides where you can wrap up maybe or hang some cords or different things here as well. And again, now you can see that nice beautiful white powder coat finish. And again, one of those mounts here, a couple of 'em here. Again, there's four of them on top.
So very, very nice design. Again, this prevents cargo in your truck bed from crashing through the rear window when you stop suddenly and the horizontal louvers shield you from sun without obstructing your view. It's a very nice option. You have a cutout here, right here in the center that's gonna allow you to see your third brake light if you have one of 'em installed as well. And again, you have integrated mounting points and hooks for hanging stuff off of as well. Folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our quick look together. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.

Everything seems good. When I receive the box it was broken on both ends the edges of the rack were scratched, but I believe the mounting brackets will cover that the packaging was very very poor, but the product seems very well-built.
I’ve put a lot of lumber ,pipe and sheet goods on this rack in the last year and it’s handled it all. I would definitely recommend it.
At First I had a problem mounting the Headache Rack but I found the bolt combination that would allow me to utilize the preengineered holes to insert the hold down bolt. Other than that one issue it is great!!!
I have this headache rack on my Dodge 3500. The fit was perfect, and there was hardware included for different instalation situations.

I purchased a Westin HDX headache rack through Etrailer. The Westin shipping box was destroyed by the shipper and the hardware package was missing although the headache rack was not damaged. Shery T of Etrailer was most helpful in getting Westin to ship me the hardware package.
2022 Tundra: Fit pretty well with the brackets sitting proud about an inch outside the top of the bed rail. I had to drill holes close to the outside of the bed rail to avoid the composite liner on the inside of the bed. you can look from beneath where you need to drill. I used the wire method to pull the bolt through the drill hole since there is no access. The kit provided with the rack was adequate. An 18mm socket would have helped. I cut one louver from the middle so that the rearview camera would not be obstructed. Its on and is sturdy!

This headache rack is all I expected it to be. High quality construction and easy to install. I would recommend this rack to anyone that pulls a gooseneck trailer. It works beautifully.
