Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rice University two inch hitch cover from AMG. The hitch cover is going to allow you to show your school pride. It also adds a clean, finished look to your hitch, and it's going to help keep dirt and grime out of the receiver tube of your hitch. The hitch cover is made from a steel construction. It's going to feature a really nice black, powder-coat finish on it, which is going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. Here, on the front, we're going to have the chrome-plated metal emblem. It's going to have a nice, rust-proof and fade-proof design.
The product is American-made. On the back side, we're going to have a foam gasket that goes around the area that slides into the hitch. The foam gasket's going to help reduce rattling between the hitch and the hitch cover. The hitch cover is an officially licensed product. It requires a hitch pin and clip, or a hitch lock, to get it fully secured and installed in your hitch. Those items are sold separately, so if you need one, you can find them right here at etrailer.com.
The pin holes on the hitch cover will accept the standard 5/8 inch diameter pin. Now, when it comes to the hitch cover face dimensions, we're looking at an overall width of about five inches, with an overall height of three and a half inches. The distance that we have from the back of the foam pad to the center of the hitch pin hole is going to be pretty close to two and a half inches. Now, this is designed for a two inch by two inch hitch. Very simple installation. Just slide it in to the receiver tube of your hitch, line up your pin holes, and secure it with a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock.

The channel was very slightly too large (squared edges vs. rounded channel edges were the problem). Had to file the edges to fit into the hitch channel. .installation is on a 1995 Land Rover Discovery

Needed something stylish and classy to dress up and protect the propriatory hitch on a Range Rover, and we Texans are proud so I thought I would give this a shot. Fits and looks great, has a padded back to recduce rattle and wear,(great idea) no other hitch cover I have had has this. Liked it so much I bought another one for my wifes Range.

I would like to put in a good word, first on the quality of this product. After going through several cheap plastic hitch covers in recent years, I was very please to see that this unit was solid, powder coated steel. This unit, if waxed regularly will last you several vehicles and still look great!

Ordered this for my husband. He couldn't wait to get it on his vehicle. It looks great. Very pleased with quality and appearance.
For the price I expected better quality. The powder coating seems to be okay. However, there are pits in the chrome plating of the USAF logo. The pits are not noticeable at a distance, so I didn't return it. Now, as an afterthought, I'm hoping it doesn't rust. Apparently there's not a standard distance to the pin hole in 2" receivers. I had to add 1/2 inch of gasket material in addition to the gasket provided to stabilize the cover in my receiver.

Customer service has been excellent; however, the trailer hitch cover is starting to show wear less than a year after purchase. I would not purchase this item again due to the premature wear.

Thanks for your message and following up a year later! I have purchased two of these hitch covers for both of our cars. I'll attach pictures. I believe the first one I bought was 2 years ago and the second was a year ago. The two year old cover has shown a great deal of rust and deterioration over those two years. The other one is in much better shape but I would expect the same to happen over this next year.
I do live in Pittsburgh, a very rainy and humid climate for most of the year. Obviously in winter months, we get a lot of snow and ice with the roadways covered with salt. I'm sure those factors contribute to the rusting of this product.
I'll be happy to log in and make a review post similar to above if you would like me to. I have been a happy customer of yours with a few of these similar products.

It took to long to get to us via mail and I wish the product had multiple holes giving us the option of adjusting it to fit the hitch receiver better.
I took about a month shopping before I purchased. The one thing I didn't want was a cheap plastic hitch cover representing my team. Did a lot of research on this product and it came through with flying colors. I ordered this product and one other from another site. This cover was superior in thickness size and chrome. Also the pin opening is large enough for standard 4" pins. If you are considering this product I suggest you don't wait. As for the company, great service. I was contacted shortly after the purchase, tracked the item and was contact about satisfaction after delivery. Outstanding. Will not return item but with their attention to detail I am sure if there were anything of issue the company would be on top of it. Thank you I will be ordering from you again.

Before I took it out of the box, I could tell that this was a high quality product. The colors are bright and the fit is perfect. The foam seal to keep water out of the hitch was an unexpected nice touch. It looks great on my truck.
Be advised, it does not come with any kind of retaining device, you will need a hitch pin to keep it in place. I purchased a locking pin because something as nice as this would probably get stolen.

I love the emblem. Exactly as shown in the photos and the construction of this is solid.
My only problem is that the length of the tube does not allow me to use it when I have the anti-rattle collar installed. I have to remove the anti-rattle when not towing. I would love it if there was an option for a tube that is maybe 1 inch longer.
