Features to know about

Cooling That Helps the Cabin Recover

Advent Air AC Unit

After a long drive or a full day parked in the sun, your RV can hold heat in the roof, walls, and furniture, well into the evening. This 13,500 Btu rooftop AC delivers 430 CFM of airflow to help bring cabin temperatures down and keep cooled air moving through your compatible Advent Air setup.

Replaces the Rooftop Unit Only

Advent Air 6-Pin Connector

If the rooftop AC is the part that needs replacing, you may not need to change the entire interior setup. This unit replaces the outside air conditioner and connects to compatible Advent Air R32 air distribution boxes and controls. The 6-pin plug helps link the rooftop unit to your existing compatible system without rewiring the whole AC setup.

Designed for Updated R32 Systems

This replacement unit is made for compatible AC systems that use R32 refrigerant. That matters because older systems and newer R32 setups do not always use the same controls, wiring, or interior components. Before installing, confirm that your current air distribution box and controls are compatible with this R32 rooftop unit.

Seals and Cushions the Roof Opening

Advent Air Foam Pads

A rooftop AC replacement needs a good seal where the unit meets the roof. The thick, collapsible gasket helps block rain and hot outside air from entering around the opening, while six foam pads help cushion the unit and reduce vibration at the mounting point. That helps the AC sit securely while keeping the cabin drier and quieter.

Easier Installation and Maintenance

Replacing a rooftop AC is easier when the unit is designed to connect to the system already in place. This AC uses a bolt-on installation and includes the wiring harness needed for compatible setups. The UV-resistant hard plastic cover protects the internal components and can be removed for maintenance and cleaning when the unit needs attention. If you'd like help installing your air conditioner, check out our Installer Locator to find an installer near you.

Optional Upgrade for Easier Startup

Some camping setups ask more from your AC than others, especially when you are running on generator or campsite power. The optional start capacitor (ACMSCKIT) can be added to help the compressor start more reliably. This upgrade is not included, but it gives you a way to build out the system for the way you camp.

Video Transcript for Review of Advent Air RV Air Conditioners - Black 13500 Btu RV AC R32 - ADV64QR

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a look together at this Advent Air Black 13,500 BTU RV Air Conditioner. Now this 13,500 BTU RV air conditioner is designed to cool down your camper or motor home quickly and efficiently. So this is gonna be a solid upgrade if your current unit isn't keeping up or it'd be a great option if you're looking to add an air conditioner for the first time. So this is made specifically for RVs like your motor homes, your travel trailers, and fifth wheels. I do wanna point out though that this is not intended for things like school buses, food trucks, utility trailers, or off-road vehicles, because typically, those types of roofs are not designed to support an air conditioner on top of the roof.

So again, this is going to be a 13,500 BTU unit. This is gonna be ideal for those smaller RVs in moderate climates. It's gonna handle normal conditions without overloading your system. A 15,500 BTU unit, which would be the next step up from Advent Air in this series, that's gonna be better for your larger RVs in hotter climates or heavy sun exposure. It's gonna cool down faster and it's gonna keep up in that extreme heat.

Now, before we go any further down the road here, let me go ahead and give you some measurements just so you can be confident this is going to work for you. Measuring the length from end to end, we're pretty close to 32 inches long. And then measuring the width at pretty much the widest point here, we're gonna be sitting close to 26 and 1/4 inches, and then the height's gonna be about 13 and a half to 14 inches tall. This is just for the AC unit. You're gonna be able to use this with either a ducted or ductless system.

You will need other components like an air distribution box and a thermostat. So you'll need to pick up an air distribution box that's going to be compatible with what you've got going on inside of your camper or RV. You want something that's gonna work with your ducted or ductless system, and you'll have to choose whether you want a manual box or a box that'll work with a wall thermostat. So, and all of those components do have to be compatible with the new R32 refrigerant. That's what this uses.

This complies with the new EPA regulations that took effect back in 2025. That refrigerant's gonna be more efficient and environmentally friendly compared to the older R410A systems. And because of that new refrigerant, as I said, this will not be backwards compatible with any components from the pre-2025 that use the old refrigerant. So it won't be able to work with those components. So if you don't already have components that are designed for the R32 refrigerant, you will need a new, a complete system. AC, air distribution box, thermostat. And the good news is we do carry this as a complete kit as well. So if you need all those other items, do take a look here at etrailer and we have this available in a complete system, if that's what you're needing. Performance-wise, you're gonna get consistent cooling with this throughout your space. It also includes a thick gasket with foam pads that are gonna sit between your AC and your RV roof, and those do a a few important things for you and help seal everything up to prevent water leaks and air gaps. It's also gonna cut down on noise and vibration while it's running. This outer cover is made from durable black plastic. It's going to do a great job of protecting the internal components from weather and debris, and you can easily remove this as well. It's held in place by Phillips head screw. So if you ever need to take the cover off to clean it out or what have you, it's gonna be very easy to remove the screws, remove the shroud, do whatever you need to do. Then you can replace the shroud, replace screws, and you will be in business. This does include a wiring harness that's going to come down from underneath the front of the AC and you'll run that through the opening in your roof and plug that into like your air distribution box. Installation's gonna be straightforward. This is gonna bolt into your roof, but again, this is not going to include any hardware. Typically the bolts, the hardware, is going to come with the air distribution box that's going to work with your particular camper or RV. This is designed to fit standard roof openings that are 14 and 1/4 by 14 and 1/4 inches. And this is going to work with roof thicknesses from two and a half to five inches thick. So again, we do have complete systems available if you need more than just the AC. You're gonna be able to find that here at etrailer. If you need help with installation on this product page, typically underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our installer locator. Click that link and answer the questions that it has for you and that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to install this for you. By the way, we also carry this in white as well, if you're looking for something other than black. That's gonna wrap up our look today. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

The part has been great. Easy to Install. I may have missed it in the write up but it wasn't a direct fit as it needed a 9 pin to 6 pin adapter harness for my RV. Fortunately, my mobile mechanic had one in his truck so we didn't have to make on. I believe etrailer sells it for around $50.
by:
This was a direct replacement for my 2013 Dometic AC unit right down to the 6 pin plug and the mounting bolts. It hooked up to the existing control unit without issue and runs all speeds.
by:
As of 5/24/26 @ 15:00 hrs central time the Advent ACM135B is installed and fully operational, cooling the bedroom of my rv perfectly.
Product arrived in excellent condition with no defects. Installation was as expected. Did rent a material lift from Home Depot which made the trip to the roof much easier and safe for this old man of 75yrs.
Thank you for the ease of ordering and your contact to let me know status of my order.

You're very welcome William, I'm delighted we could help!!!

First one made it in quick but I was slightly disappointed when my electrician wired it in and the fan motor didn't work. That disappointment faded as soon as I called customer support. Not only were they polite and helpful, they shipped the replacement before receiving my return which meant I didn't have a gaping hole in my roof to keep covered long. New one works perfectly. Couldn't be happier with the customer service I received. Will definitely be a returning customer.

Just got back from Las Vegas, NV air conditioner ran amazing. No issues, just nice and cold to freezing in my palomino backpack camper! Temperature outside was about 102-106 this weekend, September 11th 2026.
by:
You all did great...the price for everything was affordable and I liked the free shipping. This AC unit blows the cooler air a lot better than the original one.
by:
The units work as they should but the best part of everything was dealing with NikkiR in customer service she is amazing, very on point and relatable she was inquisitive about our situation and very helpful, absolutely stand behind Etrailer have made multiple purchases with them and the customer service with Nikki was by far the best I have ever had

If you really have NO experience with rooftop units, maybe you should go with a complete kit (including the control box/thermostat). If you have "some idea" of what you are doing, you can figure it out. This unit comes with a six pin plug that feeds the fan and compressor. Nothing more. Not even a wiring schematic. Not a big deal if you know how to connect things up. But if you don't, yea, go for the whole kit. We installed this on a 2005 31' Jamboree motorhome. I had to clip the connector off and connect it the old fashioned way (head scratchin' and wire nuts). I also used the control box original to our RV (more connector cutting, etc.). Still, it took only a couple hours to install. It looks great, works great, and (the most important part) the wife is happy. Our old, original unit still worked but was pulling about 27 amps - way too high. I think the power problems we had at an RV park a year ago (very low voltage) killed the compressor (low voltage = lots more heat). This one is pulling about 13 amps. Oh, you really should get some help getting it to the roof. I don't have any friends so I did it myself (sucked!). But it can be done. Just be really careful, take your time, think it through, and stretch those muscles before you get under it. Hopefully, you have a friend or two who can help. Ok. I'm off to take a nap in the cool air.

This is my fourth Advent unit I have purchased recently. The units themselves function well and customers are very happy but, on every unit, the six pin connector would not fully engage with the existing control box. Could not adjust the pins in the connector so is was forced to rewire unit using the old unit harness. I am considering going in another direction in the future.
by:
As I stated after my last purchase of a Advent AC. The six pin plug at the end of the umbilical cord does not engage with existing control boxes force a rewire of the cord using the old 6 pin connector. I'm thinking of using another brand and distributor in the future
by:
Works good install, and didn’t notice that it was bent where the compressor and the fan motor mounts to the base plate had to Try straightening it the best I could the fan would not turn at all once I straighten it out better it is working
by:
Well I already told you the unit was damaged in transit, I did repair it by myself, it was dented in next to the compressor area, subframe metal was dented, plus the units wiring harness was identical to the receiver end of the existing on the rv wiring box, in other words, the prongs weren't received into each other, since they were the same, so even tho I may have ruined my warranty by cutting the end off the unit and wire nutting the old one in its place, but it works, could just fine, the old unit was 19 years old, everything is still the same on the unit, it was light weight, and cools just fine
by:
Easy to install but need a new thermostat setup to be compatible with r32 freon

@David That's great to hear!
by:
Very fast shipping have not hook unit up looking forward to it.Very well built unit and good value Thank You
by:
It installed in the same place as the old Colman and installed fairly easy. However the “direct” replacement as advertised is not entirely true. The air delivery box will not work. The control and thermostat will not work so I ordered more parts from here and I’m still waiting on it to arrive to see if I wasted my $800 or not. So far not real good feeling about it.
by:
A/C worked well. Hopefully it will outlast the Coleman A/Cs (2) that only lasted 6 years each. I was able to install it and have it up and running the same day it was delivered. Thanks Much!
by:
Needed a male connector off of the air conditioner was a female connector of the air conditioner had to swap off old air conditioner
by:
Works great, direct replacement.
by:
Bought an Advent for a direct replacement for my living room a/c last year. Bedroom a/c went out this year. Have had great success with the replacement from last year. Easy plug and play installation.
by:
The unit was supposed to be plug and play compatible with the dometic controller. That is why the 4 star review. The plug had female pins instead of male pins. Other than that the unit performed as expected.
by:
The unit has never worked right. It doesn't ever shut off. I have always had my A/C set on auto so when it reaches too hot, it will come on and when it cools to a set temperature, it cuts the unit off. This unit will not do it. I have to go and turn the breaker on to turn the unit on and then go and turn the breaker off to shut the unit off otherwise it will run none stop.
by:
The only problem was that the Connection was wrong. It should’ve been male instead of female. It would be nice to maybe put a gender bender connector in the box. Otherwise everything worked perfect. Just a suggestion thank you.
by:
Easy to install, you just need a male to male 6 pin converter to attach to old Dometic controllers.
Other than that, excellent.
And as a bonus, it's quieter than the old Dometic I had.
by:
Works great better then old Domic ever worked. The only problem is had was with the 6 pin connection the old one had rounded ends new one had flat ends made it hard to get plug in.but I am very happy with the unit cools great.
by:
Works great! My only issue is the knobs won't fit? They fall off i guess they have to be glued?

Glad to hear it's working well for you! To what knobs are you referring to though? This is just the rooftop unit and there shouldn't be any knobs. Are they on the air distribution box?
