Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this WeatherTech BumpStep hitch-mounted bumper protector and step for your two inch trailer hitch receiver. Now, this sturdy step is going to slide into your two inch trailer hitch receiver, and it's going to give you quick and easy access to the rear of your truck or SUV, making it easy to climb into and out of your truck bed or to reach your SUV's roof rack. This will give you sure footing with a large anti-slip step surface that you can see right here. Before we go any further, let me give you some measurements.
So putting my ruler up there, as you can see, the overall width right at the widest point here, pretty close to 11 1/2 inches wide. The overall height, about 2 1/2 inches tall. The overall depth, bring that in there so you can see it, pretty close to 3 1/2 inches deep. And then you might be wondering about, let's say, from the back of the step to the end of the shank if that's helpful for you. I come at about 6 1/4 inches or so.
So in case you we inchesre wondering about that, you have one, two, three, four, five hitch pin holes. I do wanna point out that a pin and clip is not sold with this, that would be separate. Obviously this would be a 5/8 of an inch pin and clip. So if you don't have something compatible, you would have to pick that up, or you could get a hitch lock option as well. And we do have those options available here at etrailer.com if you're in need of them.
This does have a weight capacity of 300 pounds. So this will also act as a bumper guard, so that's gonna help to protect against bumps and scratches. This composite resin is going to stand up to the sun's harsh rays for a long life. So I would call this like a very durable, sturdy plastic-like material. So it has this matte black finish with this American-themed flag.
Very simple installation, as I mentioned, again, for your two inch trailer hitch receiver. Very durable, it's gonna stand up to the elements that it's gonna be constantly exposed to. Awsome step… provdes great access to roof for cargo and washing… has saved my bumper from a couple of errant taps from distracted drivers in traffic so it is a worthwhile investment to protect your car…
Just what I wanted. The fit was perfect and the extra holes for the hitch pin gave me options on the extension length. Now I feel better about parking at the supermarket.
Looks good. Color matches existing bumper. Hope I don't get to check it out with a rear end collision. (just joking) I'm sure I will enjoy it as a step.

A year later, no issues. I installed the harness through the inside of the van as opposed to outside along the frame. Much cleaner with maybe 15 minutes more install time. Check [online] for videos.

I got the bumper step....its incredibly light weight, but strong and very easy to install. etrailer does a great job of getting the product in the mail quickly and packaged so the product does not get damaged. This is the second product I've purchased from etrailer, and I've been extremely satisfied with both.
Ordering was simple received the product in 5 days, step works fine. The only reason I don't give a 5 star rating is you have to purchase the trailer pin separate, I would have ordered the pin at the same time if I knew about it, not after the step arrived and read the instructions.
The weather tech hitch-mounted bumper step/protector was delivered today and appears to be well built. As usual the etrailer service was excellent.
Hitch was an exact fit on a 2015 Dodge Durango Limited. Hitch took about 20 min to install. Very easy as long as you have the right size socket or wrench for the car.
This BumpStep Hitch-Mounted Bumper Protector and Step for 2" upto 300lbs fits perfectly on my Atlas 2022.
I was disappointed in this purchase. Advertised as "composite" (which, to me, means multiple materials) but it is an expensive piece of plastic. It cost more than the steel or stainless options, which I'm sure are much stronger. This flexes under my weight (175 lbs) and I can't imagine it will protect the bumper in an accident. If I could do it over, I'd go with a stronger material.

Looks like a good product. I will use this as an extra step for the back of my truck and pickup camper. Hard to find product. I've several good items shopping with etrailer for my older North Star Truck camper... lights, trim, etc. Always good products sent out in a timely manner.

I got the etrailer Stainless Steel Hitch Lock to go with this step, and it all looks very nice on the vehicle.
I received the delivery very quickly and was surprised it shipped on a Sunday. The product fits very well and look perfectly like it was custom made. Would be great if there was a pin that locks instead of the metal clip that anyone can take off.
Fit well and was in fact a exact replacement on my 2012 Winnebago Adventurer
I was surprised by the amount of flex this thing has in it. I like WeatherTech as a company with their all American sourced manufacturing, but this item doesn't seem like it's something I'd trust as a step. I'm 190lbs and it definitely flexed when I stepped on it. There are multiple holes in the tongue of the step, so make sure you mount it as deep as you can to reduce flex. Stepping on the ends cause it to flex even more. It may provide some cushioning in minor bumps, so I'm going to keep it in when I'm not towing.
Do not buy a locking pin. I bought one and after almost a year could not fit key in. Had to rent a truck as time was of the essence.
Nice looking bumper step, not too large and no interference with the vehicle backup sensors. Lower step for access to storage and also protection for the bumper from other cars that get too close.
This BumpStep is just what we needed for our Class B. It is very sturdy, well made and the price is right!
I might let potential buyers know that the linchpin is sold separately. Hitch step looks great with the American flag, and is very sturdy.
I am a fan of both etrailer and Weather Tech! I have had Weather Tech’s Bumper step XL on my truck for years and have enjoyed its size and bolt in stability and security. The new Weather Tech Bumper Step is still well made but it is 11 1/2 inches wide as opposed to the XL being 23 1/2 wide. The XL is secured with a bolt through the step which tightens down against the receiver to prevent any play in the step. The one I just received is held in with a standard hitch pin which allows some play in the step. Both steps are quality made but I prefer the size and bolt in stability of the XL over Weather Tech’s 12 inch model.
