Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut for Boat Hatches-3691869-100

Hello everybody. This is [email protected]. Today, we're going to take a look at this Taylor Made 28 inch long steel gas strut for boat hatches, how this gas strut is designed to replace a worn out or damaged strut on your boat's hatch lid. This strut will extend at ease lifting your hatch lid and it'll compress to gently close your hatch without slamming. It is a heat-treated steel construction which is very durable, has a nice corrosion resistant coating on it. So it won't rust even in saltwater areas.

And it is a ball and socket installation and attaches to the ball studs on the inside of your boat's hatch. The connection type is 13 millimeter size ball socket, and it easily installs in minutes. There's no special tools required. Want to zoom in to show you the end right here. There's your 13 millimeter socket and you'll see this clip that sort of wraps around the ball itself. If you just push this, pry up this retainer clip and you can slide it right out and then put that right onto your ball.

And then what you'll do is take this retainer clip. And again, just slide it back up with the hole on the bottom and then slide it up until it hits the hole on the top, and then just push this until it clips around the ball. Very simple to install it. That retainer clip will lock the strut to the ball. Now, when you do install this, you do want this inner rod portion facing down, and it is recommended to always replace these gas shocks in pairs.

Total length on this, which is measured from the center of one ball to the center of the other ball. On this one it's going to measure right at 28 inches long. The compression force on the strut is 100 pounds and it is for quantity of one strut. But that should do it for the review on the Taylor Made 28 inch long steel gas truck for boat hatches.

  • Is A Replacement Gas Strut With A 100-lb Rating And Measures 27" Long Available?
I spoke with Atlas Lift, and the poundage rating for the Hood Lift Support # ATL45VR is not something they record. However, we have some other options that are close to what you're looking for. We have the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut # 3691869-100, which has a 100 pound rating, and is 28" long. and we also have the Gas Shock # 372-2600-100, which also has a 100 pound rating, and measures 26" long. Unfortunately, we do not have any gas struts that have a 100-lb rating, and measures 27" long.
