Hello neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the WeatherTech custom floor liners in the front row of our 2025 Ford Escape. Good floor liners are really the best way to protect your factory carpet. The day is gonna come down the line someday where you're going to want to trade in your current vehicle, and you wanna keep the interior in as good of condition as you possibly can. Well, the factory carpet in a vehicle is one of the things that is most commonly kind of wrecked and destroyed when it comes to having it for five or six years. So having a custom liner like this is gonna be a huge plus. And being a custom liner, it's gonna actually provide a lot more coverage than the factory mats that you get, and I'll show that after I install it, but while I got it out, I just wanna go over a few things.
It's got a really rigid plastic core and it's got a rubberized texture around the outside, so it's gonna have really good grip while keeping its shape. The coverage that it provides, like I said, it goes well beyond what the factory ones do, but as far as other features, it's got these grooves here and it's got a reservoir here kind of behind where your feet would be. So this reservoir is gonna collect a lot of debris and liquid that might've been on your shoes or boots when you got in the vehicle, pulls it into one easy spot to get it cleaned up. Getting this in is really simple, you just need to make sure that you slip it up underneath your pedals up front there. And then you're just gonna line these up with the anchors that are there on the floor and get them popped down and into place.
And when it comes to the passenger side, there are no snap down anchors. This is just gonna go right into place and just set right in. Let's just talk a little bit about the fit here. Around every contour of this area is covered by these floor mats. They've done a really good job of making sure every little notch and everything gets covered all the way up to the wall.
So this is gonna offer a lot of sidewall protection here. So this kind of carpeting here along the console, especially up here, can often get kind of torn up and everything as you're driving. We've got great coverage all the way up under our pedals, so we're not gonna have any problems with anything dripping off of our shoes onto that carpeted area. And we even get coverage on the dead pedal there as well. Now if I take the factory and put it over right in place, I'm gonna line it up with our anchor points here so it's in the same spot, you can see how much more coverage that you're going to get out of the WeatherTech mats than you will the factory.
So again, you do get some coverage up under the brake pedal, but for some reason there's no coverage under the gas pedal. You don't get the sidewall coverage at all, and you get no coverage on the dead pedal. So if you rest your foot on that dead pedal a lot and you got some mud or snow melt on it or something like that, all that's gonna do is run off that pedal, underneath your mat and onto your factory carpet. So having all of that extra protection is a huge plus. Passenger side, it's really the same thing. It's molded so well that even without the anchors, it's not slipping or sliding anywhere on us so I don't have any worries in that regard. We're gonna get a lot of that high sidewall coverage, again, really help protect that carpeting along the side there. And if I put the factory one down over it, we actually, the factory carpet mat actually gives you a lot of coverage, where the bonus is really gonna come in is gonna be along those sidewalls, even here behind the seat or underneath the seat rather, where things would normally kinda run off to and get on any of this, we've even got sidewall coverage along there. And these floor mats are available in three different colors. They're available in black, they're available in a beige, and they're available in the gray that we have in here today. And aesthetically speaking, in this particular interior, I really like the gray. It works really well with this lighter gray that we have up here on the dash and along our center console. And even a little bit on the seats here, I just think it's a really, really good compliment. But of course, if you opted for the black, that wouldn't be a problem either, I don't think I'd do the beige one in this particular vehicle, but between the black and the lighter gray, they both look really, really good, especially this lighter gray color.
