Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at the WeatherTech custom-fit cargo liner for your 2017 Ford Explorer. So this is gonna be a lot more durable, compared to the regular cloth style mats that you have in your vehicle, if you already have a cargo liner. Most vehicles do not have a custom fit cargo liner like this, designed for this entire cargo space. You also have the material of a high density tri extruded material, which means it has a dense core to hold up to your dirt, your snow, your water, and even some of your chemicals. This has channels on the inside, just to help with if you spill any liquids, to channel it through.
But then once you get to the end, you also have this lip, so that way it makes it easier for you to clean up your messes, 'cause then you can just hold the whole thing and dump it out the back. Notice the texture on the mat as well. This gives it a nice, clean look, but also prevents your items from sliding around or getting too slippery. It's still a very smooth mat though, so you don't have to worry about it roughing up your cargo. So this is a premium cargo liner at a premium price.
Now I keep a WeatherTech cargo liner in my vehicle, mainly because it is an investment that I expect to last the lifetime of my car. So if you're looking for other options, though and maybe you don't need that durable core or that strong heavy duty material, you may wanna check out the etrailer universal cargo liner. It is universal, so not as custom fit, but you still have a lot of material to cover all of your cargo area, for if you need that extra protection. WeatherTech also has some other options. So maybe you want to use your third row of seats and just protect that bottom, back area.
You can find one that fits your third row. You can also find a mat that fits within your second row, or your front seats. Now you can find all of them here at etrailer. And this creates a heavy duty surface for when you're carrying cargo in your trunk, while also it is custom fit, to fit around the contours of your Explorer. So if you have a third row, this is designed to be used with your third row down. Also, I recommend vacuuming or detailing the back of your vehicle before putting this on. Not required, but it's just helpful that way. So once those seats are down, you can then just pop that liner into there. And, it's a little folded up right now, so I do recommend maybe leaving it out in the sun or getting it warm if you want it to truly fit around the contours. We'll see how well the lip fits around the walls of your vehicle. This will sit it more flush once it is warm. It even has those cutouts, for things like your seat belts or your storage hooks. So you are gonna have to take that mat out if you wanna put your third row back up. But, as you can see, it's super easy just to take out and put back in. And you're ready to go. The lip around the edge doesn’t really hold its shape to well to contain liquids, and the bottom has no spikes or traction, so the whole thing slides on the carpet. It slowly slides toward the door, and then the door doesn’t close. Good material I guess, but really poor design. Ill buy a different one as soon as I catch my breath after paying WeatherTech prices for something that doesn’t do the job.
This cargo liner is fantastic!
The fit is precise and matches the trunk of my car exactly. It is slightly thinner than I was expecting, but the liner is very light yet stiffer than regular floor mats. The light and fairly flexible material makes for quick add/remove easing cleanup. Edges around the entire perimeter are over 1" tall and will hold a significant amount of water/dirt/whatever without destroying the trunk.
Exact fitment. Quick shipping from etrailer. Made for my car. Looks like a factory accessory. I would recommend both the Weathertech custom floor mats and etrailer for the positive shopping experience I had.

It does not fit. When I called to complain I was told to just cut the corner off and then it would fit. Your ads say they are laser measured to fit perfectly, the cargo liner does not fit!
Looks and fits great

When I received the mat, I warmed it in the sun to soften it and dropped it into place for a perfect fit in the kinda quirky space of a Bolt EV. It's especially handy on a nursery run when we come back with dripping wet plants with soil attached. Just pop it out, dump out the water, soil, etc and pop it back in. After a year of faithful service, we highly recommend this product.
Perfect fit for the 2025 Lexus GX 550 6 seater model, given Lexus does not make a large cargo mat/liner. Just let it sit out in the sun for 5 mins and it will unfurl and be ready tor installation.
I purchased the WeatherTech mats for the front and for the cargo area of my '17 Chevy Bolt. The front floor mats fit perfectly once they were warmed up in the house to make them more flexible. To me, WeatherTechs are more plastic-like than rubber-like but they do the job. I had issues with the cargo mat. Be aware that there are different mats for the "false floor" and the floor in the cargo well for the Bolt and this wasn't clear at the time of my purchase. Make sure you know which mat you want to save return and repurchase.
Perfect fit
The WeatherTech liner fits well in the back of our new Toyota Sienna and provides the protection we wanted for the interior when we travel. We normally stow the third row seats since it's just the wife, dog, and I travelling so the mat protects the stowed seats/carpet from the soiling and wear/tear of our luggage, gear, etc.
We are extremely pleased with both the product and the great service.

I very much like etrailer (vendor) but this particular product (weather tech cargo liner) does not meet my full expectations. It fits nicely in vehicle when 3rd row seating is folded down but when 3rd row seating is up you have to remove the weather tech cargo liner. The OEM version from KIA has a fold such that when the 3rd row seating is raised, the cargo liner simply folds back on itself (and fits nicely regardless if the 3rd row is up or down).
