Hello neighbor, this is Kurt with etrailer, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at the WeatherTech custom cargo liner and see how it fits the cargo space of our 2022 Ford Edge. Now, if you've gone ahead and purchased this cargo liner and you've got some experiences with it to share, go ahead and leave those in the comments below. We'd love to share your story with our other neighbors so they can make the best decision for themselves. Now, if you've been looking for a solution in your Ford Edge to protect the factory carpet of your cargo area, this custom mat from WeatherTech is a really good choice. WeatherTech is known for making very durable mats. These are actually pretty easy to clean, a little bit of a grip to it so it can help things from sliding around, and with the underneath as it is, it actually grips the carpet area pretty well too.
It doesn't really shift around a whole lot. That's partially because of how it's kind of textured underneath. But the other thing is, is it is actually really flush around all of the edges and the molding on our Ford Edge. Now when you originally get it out of the package, we're gonna experience a little bit of curling like this, and the best solution for that is to keep weight on it, but not just that, some heat as well. So we're doing this for demonstration purposes.
This was curled up really, really badly until we put some weight on it. We had it on there for about an hour, kind of in the corners along the edges, and it's already laying much, much better. But if we we inchesre to do that same thing and leave it, you know, outside for a day when the sun's really hot, or a really humid day or something like that, it would be much, much more molded down flat and around our edges. If you happen to be installing this in the wintertime, a couple of other solutions to generate that heat would be a heat gun or a hair dryer or something like that, just to get this mat heated up while that weight is on it, and that'll help it mold right into shape. With this surface, again, it's curling up a little bit, but it does have a good high wall all the way around it.
I am holding it in place, but as you can see, when I do, it actually contours to the shape of the cargo area pretty much perfectly. It's got a smaller lip up here in the front, which is gonna keep any of that moisture from flowing over and then getting underneath it onto that factory carpet. And it actually has a bit of a slope to the cargo area in the Ford Edge. So it is gonna do a good job of pulling anything back toward the tailgate. That's probably why they kept the lip up here on the mat a lot shorter, because this slope is pretty aggressive as it comes back toward the tail end of the vehicle here.
But all said and done, I think this is a really, really good cargo mat for you and your Ford Edge. It is gonna fit pretty much super tight around the edges once we have it molded the way that we want to. But again, good choice for you and your Ford Edge. I'm Curt with etrailer.
