You're running 120V loads on a split-phase system and one leg keeps hitting its limit while the other sits unused. This autotransformer creates a new neutral to absorb imbalance, letting you use more of your available power without upgrading.
One leg of a split-phase system can hit its limit while the other sits underused, leaving available power stranded. This autotransformer creates a new neutral and absorbs load imbalance between legs. It redistributes power across the system so more of your inverter or generator capacity is actually usable.
Running both 120V and 240V loads in the same system can create compatibility issues and limit how power is used. This unit supports step up, step down, and split-phase balancing within a single setup. It gives you a way to manage mixed-voltage demands without reworking your entire system.
Getting proper grounding and system coordination with inverter setups can be a sticking point. This autotransformer integrates with MultiPlus and Quattro inverter and charger systems (sold separately) and supports grounding relay operation. In inverter mode, it ensures the neutral is grounded correctly so GFCI protection works as expected.
Imbalanced loads can push components beyond their limits, especially in sustained use. This unit includes temperature protection that disconnects it from the supply during overheating conditions. A manual reset restores operation after shutdown, giving you a clear response if the system is pushed too far.
Building a split-phase system often means stacking two 120V inverters, which adds cost and complexity. This configuration provides another path by supporting split-phase balancing through a single setup. It changes how the system is built without duplicating major components.

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Let's take a look at the Victron Auto Transformer. Folks, this is a heavy duty 100 amp AC auto transformer, and it's gonna help manage and convert power in both 120 and 240 volt AC systems. Now this unit's been built for professional and advanced residential marine and off off-grid applications. And this is gonna help when you need step up or step down or even split phase power balancing.
It's gonna convert between 120 and 240 volts of AC current, and that's gonna give you the flexibility to use a broader range of loads and equipment from a single power source. And as you can see, you got the circuit breaker and then of course your lights here that would be lit up once you get everything powered up and installed. And one of the standout features of this auto transformer is that it has a split phase balancing capabilities that's gonna help even out imbalanced loads between 120 volt volt legs of a 240 volt supply. And this can then improve how much usable power you will get from your system and it's gonna reduce stress on your generator or inverter setup. Now, as you can see on the back, it's got a bracket here that comes with it for hanging.
And of course all the mounting screws for that as well. It's also a torrid InDesign, meaning efficient power conversion with low noise heat and electromagnetic interface. It's everything packed into this aluminum enclosure, so it has been built for safety. You have a 100 amp, two pole circuit breaker I was just showing you in the front at the beginning. And thermal protection that's gonna disconnect in the event of overheating.
And if you're working with Victron, Multiplus, or Quattro inverter chargers, this transformer includes a ground relay to support proper GFCI operation and system grounding. And I do want to go ahead and flip this up just so you can kind of see the bottom real quick. So you got a coolant thing in and then of course you got your areas there where your wires and stuff can come in for installation. And let's go ahead and get some quick dimensions here before we go as well. I got 16 to three-quarter inches tall.
That's just the housing that do not include the black plastic pieces down there where your wire's been coming through. I got eight and seven-16th inches wide overall. And as far as a depth, four and three-eighth inches. And as always folks, if you have any questions about this or any of the products, reach out here to us at etrailer. We're more than happy to assist you. I'm Steven, thanks for watching and have a great day.
