Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we'll be taking a really quick look here at our Coghlan's Folding Camp Stove. So this is a compact folding stove great to keep tucked away for emergencies or quick camping trips. I've actually tried several types of compact stoves, and I think this one stands out when it comes to affordability, it really wouldn't hurt to get it just for those just in case situations. So this uses canned fuel or solidified alcohol as a heat source, so not random trees and branches, but the good news is that can fuel does not expire or it can last for years, as long as you keep the can itself intact. We have canned fuel options here at etrailer as well, Camp Heat by Coghlan's would be a great example of something that would work well with this compact stove. Now, let's take some measurements of how it works, so we'll open it up first, I'm gonna show you how to unfold our stove, 'cause right now it's in the compact position.
So you see it right here, we'll start unfolding the lids, this is going to be the long lid, and then these are going to be the side walls. So this pops right out just like that, so then you can see here how we have tabs. So you wanna make sure that this fits right into those tabs, there's one, and then there's two, and then you turn this over and you can see how we now have kind of a shelf for our Camp Heat or our fuel, and then we have this door that comes over and latches into place just to make sure that it's kind of a wind guard for your fuel as it is burning. So we'll take some measurements here in this open position, so our measurements of the base itself is going to be about five inches wide by five inches long right over here, and the height is going to be about four inches tall. Now, this is going to be where you put the fuel, it is going to be the position at the stove.
Notice how it kinda has this flower shape right over here, where you put, let's say, your pots, your pans, or your containers that you want heated up. Let's turn this right over, so that we can unfold it or make it more compact. To do so, you fold or you undo these latches, and then you get the sidewalls first, this goes right there, then you get this larger door right over there, and now it is compact again. So let's take some measurements. Now, the top base was slightly wider than the bottom base, so it's now going to be 6 3/4 inches long by 6 3/4 inches wide, and here in the compact position, it's going to be only 3/4 inches thick.
Now, this does weigh 16 ounces, so it's very lightweight. This can be stored inside your glove box or inside of your backpack. This is the packaging that it comes in, so it's this cardboard box, which I actually think might be a good option for storing your stove when you're not using it, just make sure that it's no longer warm to touch. You can pop it right back into that cardboard box, and this is what you would put inside of your backpack, that way you're not storing just your stove on its own. Now, this is made of coated steel, you can definitely hear as well as see that that steel is nice and durable.
One thing I did notice though, is that that steel does this color after handling and especially, after cooking with it, so that is more of an aesthetic thing though, because even though it does hit this color, I do like that the steel itself maintains its integrity and it's still nice and durable. Again, I think this would be a great affordable compact stove, we have other compact stove here at etrailer, but they have more premium features like faster heat output, or they are used with certain things like propane as your fuel, which does create that higher heat output. But for this, I think when it comes to affordability, this wins out and would be great for your emergency situations or when you just need a portable camp stove that gets the job done without having to pay a hefty price. So that was a really quick look here at our Coghlan's Folding Camp Stove. My name is Evangeline, and I hope this helped you out..
