Installation for Trucks With Pop-Out Rail Caps

pop off rail cap

If you have pop-out rail caps you can install the anchors in seconds. All you have to do is pop the caps off using a flat head screwdriver, insert the anchors into the stake pockets, and tighten them down with a Phillips head screwdriver.

Installation for Trucks Without Pop-Out Rail Caps

Router Bit

If you have truck bed rails with hidden stake pockets that don't have pop-out rail caps, a router and a drill with a 1/2" bit (not included) are required to install the anchors.

Router Bit

The router bit (sold separately) lets you perfectly trim the caps without damaging your truck bed. To install the anchors, drill a 1/2" hole in the center of each rail cap and use the router to make the cuts. The router bit has 4 roller bearings that guide the router around the inner steel pocket to prevent overcutting the surface of your bedrails. Cut around each perimeter several times so that all the plastic residue resulting from the cuts gets trimmed away. Once the caps have been trimmed you can install the anchors.

Router Bit

If you have rear stake pockets with an inner plastic shaft, use a router with the rotary pocket saw bit (sold separately) to remove it.

What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out these bull ring anchored tie down points, these are heavy duty. They also retract when they're not in use. Let's check 'em out. These tie down points are gonna be great because they go in the stake pockets in your truck.

So there's gonna be one on each corner of your truck. So four of 'em in total when you get 'em in this kit, they're gonna make it easier when you're using ratchet straps to hook up and strap down the load that's in the back of the truck a lot easier than trying to climb in there and do that. The other nice thing is that they retract so you can push 'em down when they're not used that way they're just completely outta the way. It's not an eyesore. You don't have to worry about 'em gettin caught on anything when you're throwing something in the truck.

Look a little bit more closely at the anchor tie down points. Just wanna show you how they function. This is with it pulled up and ready for you to put your S hook in there and just push down on it. Then it goes into place. Like I said, now it's underneath this portion here so it's not sticking up.

And in the way. It's pretty well hidden. I like the how easy it is. And then the pull back up, just pull until it snaps. You hear that snapped there and you know it's gonna stay off like that.

The loop of the anchor point is being made out of a durable stainless steel and it's gonna have a weight capacity of a thousand pounds. So keep that in mind when you're tying down your stuff. Also, the bottom portion is made out of nylon and it actually does match our rails on the Ram and Toyotas. Now we know what the tie down points are good for, and how they're gonna help you out. Let's see how it is to install 'em. The installation process isn't gonna take that long. This is exactly where we're gonna drop it in here in the stake pocket. Now you do have to modify the plastic cover just a little bit. So we had to cut it out a little bit more. We used the razor knife. They also offer a part that you can get from them. That's more of a dremel. That'll be with the drill that you can take a little less time to do that, but the razor knife worked just fine. Now with this fully loosened up so you can see how much it separates these screws here is what I loosen. And you're just gonna angle that into the pocket With it loose we're gonna try and get one of these tabs underneath the lip right there. And then you can just push it down into place pretty easily from there just by kind of tilting it down and you can loosen those screws a little bit more if you want that plate to drop. Just a bit more now with those, two of those tabs done we got the last one. I'm just gonna push down that goes into place. Then we can put those screws back in. Something I wanted to point out is if you back the screws all the way out and they're not attached anymore and your trying to run 'em back in there it's not gonna work. But what you can do is pull up on this portion and that's gonna bring the assembly up so that you can put the screws back into place. Make sure you don't over tighten the screws In the bed. Now you can see it's in there and it's not going anywhere. Then we're gonna just repeat that process for all the other stake pockets around your truck. Overall, not too bad to install, took a little bit of time to modify the plastic bed rails with the razor knife but We got it done. We got 'em in there. I like the way they look. They look factory. I like that. I can reach up here to hook up my rat strap when I go tie something down. I don't have to climb in the bed and get to those hard to reach spots. And when it's not used, it's hidden right there. You can't really see it. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out. Hope it helps..

This neat little addition to the truck is easy to put in and looks custom. The hardest part is getting it out of the package :) The price was fair and delivery was spot on. I am an Etrailer junkie and will continue to be so. They have so many neat things one could go broke just customizing. The customer inquiry response on all issues is phenomenal.

Great product

Product arrived on time as described. Easy installation, but perfect flush mount depends on the type truck bed rail protector design.

by:

I installed two of the 4 in be side of my truck. No instructions but pretty simple to figure out. Just take out the two bolts, fit the bullring in place and tighten down the bolts. Easy as pie. MY truck is a 2007 Toyota Tundra Limited edition in Mint shape. This adds to the truck.

These install easily, sit flush, and look good. Unfortunately, they are difficult to pull out and impossible if you have gloves on. Slight loading causes them to get stuck in the out position, requiring some force to set flush again. After using them for a while, I would not buy again.

Easy to install Very solid and nice addition to my 2013 Tundra Just what I was looking for
