Hey guys, how's it going Clayton here at etrailer.com. Today we'll be taking a look at and I'll show you how to install a PTC cabin air filter on our 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. So installing a cabin air filter is super simple. There's really no reason to take your truck somewhere and have somebody else do it, especially on this vehicle. It's super easy. A new cabin air filter is going to allow the air to come through your air box much easier and much cleaner. You're not going to be stressing your AC unit, which over time is really good for your truck.
Also, this filter is going to block out 90% of all contaminants and any debris that might come through your air, making your air cleaner, not only for you, but also for your passengers. So we have our new filter and our old filter. As you can see, our old filter needs to be changed. There's all kinds of dirt and debris and contaminants in our filter. That's good though because that means our filter is doing what it's supposed to, but you do want to make sure to change this. Like I said, this is a very easy installation and personally, I do mine every couple oil changes or when I do my air filter in my engine compartment. Our filter is going to be constructed out of a white media particulate and it does have pleats.
Those pleats are going to help catch 90% of that dirt and debris I was talking about. Now that we've gone over some of the features, I'll walk you through how to get it installed now.To start our installation, we're going to be working in our glove box so you're going to make sure to clean out anything you might have in here. There's a little tab over here on the right side. All you have to do is push down, and that'll release. Then on our glove box we'll pinch in on the corners and the whole glove box will actually come off.Now that we're behind our glove compartment, our cabin air filter is going to be located right here.
You do want to make note it does say airflow with the arrows pointed down. So we want to make sure we follow that on our new filter when we install it. There are going to be little tabs on each side. We're going to reach through, push those in. The other one can be kind of hard to get to, but if you take your time, you push it down, then this little cover will pop right off.
Then as you can see, here's our filter and we can go ahead and slide this out. With our old filter out, we're ready to install our new filter. We do want to make sure our airflow is pointed down in the same direction it came out. And again, you can follow the guide on the front of our cover. So we can go ahead and slide our filter back into the box.Now we're ready to put our cover back on. We're just going to line up the tabs on the left and the right side. It can be kind of tricky lining this up. You'll hear a nice click whenever you know it's on. So now we can go ahead and install our glove box.Installing our glove box is a little tricky just because we have this pull tab we have to get first. I always like to pull this out and then snap it back into the side of our glove box. Like I said, it can be kind of tricky just because there's not a whole lot of room to work. Once that's snapped in, we can move our glove box into place. Then there's tabs on the bottom and you'll feel that snap in, then you know you're good to go.With our glove box re-installed, we're ready to hit the road. That's going to do it for a look at and installation of a PTC cabin air filter on our 2019 Ram 1500 Classic.
