It is heavy duty and well-built. I am not disappointed at all and I get comments everyone smile from people who are used to traveling overseas asking where I got the European style hitch from. The only downside is the lack of interchangeability in the size of the ball itself but I don’t think that’s a big deal because I set it up for what I need it for and keep a vehicle vehicle for longer periods of time.

Solid, heavy as heck. Bought this model because 1) I only have 1 lightweight trailer (Malone xtralight, also purchased from etrailer at the same time) and it’s light weight. 2) I am stuffing this into an adaptor also bought from etrailer to further stuff into a receiver also purchased from etrailer. 3) All this is on the back of my 2018 Subaru Outback. Beings that it’s a Subaru it’s not going to be used to drag a huge or heavy trailer. I’ll repeat this part in my review of the adapter, buy probably from etrailer, a receiver lock that is sleeved, to be both 1/22 and 5/8 and long. That way if you don’t want this sticking way out the back (shin killer) you can use 1 lock and go all the way through receiver/ adapter/ and this ball mount. Otherwise buy you’ll need 2 locks 1 for receiver to adapter 5/8 and a second 1/22 to go through adapter into this unit. A side benefit is it’s just different. It’s not an everyday boring looking ball mount, it’s heavy duty so why not.

Great purchase experience. eTrailer has this convenient package of ball and hitch already torqued together, AND includes a locking pin in addition to the normal cotter pin! I needed to tow a trailer with a 2" ball. My original ball mount has a 1 7/8" ball installed. I had previously tried to change a ball on a hitch and destroyed the nut and damaged the underside of the ball mount. The lock washer had done a great job in keeping the nut from coming off. I dreaded trying to remove my 1 7/8" ball to install a new one that I would only use once. I decided to buy a new ball mount and mount the new 2" ball. This ball mount is so inexpensive that I realized I could have both ball sizes permanently mounted for use in either ball size.

I wasn't sure what type of ball mount I needed for my new Mazda CX-9, so I had to call a representative. The first time I called, the very knowledgeable gentlemen told me exactly how to measure my SUV to figure out the drop I needed. I called back the next day and talked to a lady who helped me figure out exactly what I needed. This is my second purchase from etrailer. The first was a hitch for my old Honda Odyssey, which was also a great experience.
