  • Can 1989 Ford F-150 RWD with Auto Transmission be Flat Towed
Hey Charles, due to the age of your truck I wasn't able to pull up an online version of the owners manual to see what it recommends for flat towing. Do you still have your manual? You can look under the towing section for the recreational section and there will be whether or not it can be flat towed listed there. Otherwise a Ford dealer would know. We have a base plate kit that does fit your truck with the Roadmaster # 414-1 though so I am pretty confident it will work.

  • Can I Flat Tow a 1989 Ford F-150 4WD?
Hey Art. So long as your 4WD 1989 Ford F-150 doesn't have front leaf springs you can flat tow it using the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit item # 414-1. Here are the rest of the parts you'll need to flat tow your 1989 F-150: Tow Bar, Quick Disconnect, and Safety Chains - Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar item # RM-520, Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly item # 910021-00 and item # RM-643 Wiring Harness - Universal Magnetic Tow Lights - 20' Wiring Harness with 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector...

  • Tow Bar and Base Plate Kit Recommendation for 1991 Ford Bronco
To flat tow your 1991 Ford Bronco you'll need to have a base plate kit installed on the front of it so that a tow bar has a place it can connect to. For that you'd want the part # 414-1 which is a confirmed fit. Then the least expensive tow bar to connect to this would be the Roadmaster Tracker part # RM-020.

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1990 Ford F-150 behind an RV
For your 1990 Ford F-150 you will want a Roadmaster Base Plate kit # 414-1 if your vehicle is a 4-wheel drive model, or a base plate kit # 407-1 if you have a 2-wheel drive model without a sway bar. I checked with Roadmaster and the base plate kit # 458-1 that you referenced is not the correct product for the F150s. There are several other components you will need to flat tow your vehicle. The next thing you will need is a tow bar. For a tow bar that has a few of the other components included...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1991 Ford F-150
Since the only confirmed base plate kit that we offer for your 1991 Ford F-150 is the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit # 414-1 has fixed arms, there really isn't anything else that can safely be used to flat tow your F-150. Keep in mind that you will also need a tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and most likely a high-low adapter. The Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 and the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643 will...

  • Base Plates and Other Recommended Equipment to Flat Tow 1991 Ford F150 4WD
The Roadmaster Falcon has a 6000 lb capacity, so as long as the as-towed weight of your truck is under that, the tow bar should work fine. The base plates you need that would permanently install on the truck will depend on how he truck is equipped. For the F150 4WD, use the # 414-1 base plate kit, which is a fit as long as the vehicle doesn't use front leaf springs. You'll also need a few other items to complete your towing system. For safety cables, I'd recommend part # RM-645. So the...

  • Roadmaster Base Plates and Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2009 Ford Escape
For your 2009 Ford Escape you can use base plates # 4414-1. These base plates feature removable arms for when you are not towing the vehicle. They are compatible with Quick Disconnects and all Roadmaster tow bars such as the Stowmaster, # RM-501. I have linked the instructions for you. You will also need safety cables, # RM-643, to flat tow the vehicle. The coiled design of these cables helps keep them off of the ground. Next you will need a lighting solution. For infrequent towing I...
