The open design of Stage 1 systems allows more air into the engine compartment, thereby boosting horsepower and torque. An increase in airflow also generates a louder sound than the OEM sound. Stainless steel installation hardware is included.
A. Made from 16-gauge, powder coated steel, the heat shield is durable and easy to install. Its single-piece construction eliminates the need for cutting or drilling; it simply replaces the entire stock air box.
B. The three-angle adapter ring, located on the inside of the heat shield, bridges the connection between the air filter and the intake tube. Its conical shape helps to increase airflow velocity before air enters the intake tube.
C. Stage 1 air intake systems connect to the stock intake tube.
D. This intake system contains an aFe Pro 5R oil-based air filter for maximum airflow and necessary engine protection. Designed for everyday gas and diesel vehicles, it performs well in paved-road driving conditions. Composed of 100-percent polyurethane, it withstands high engine temperatures. Five layers of progressively finer, medical-grade cotton gauze block 98.6 percent of dirt and grime from clogging your engine. These materials yield the highest performance airflow and extended service interval. All aFe air filters are washable and reusable; cleaning and re-oiling are recommended once every 25,000 to 30,000 miles.
