Is RVS Wireless Hitch Camera As Simple as it Seems
Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/11/2025 >
Question:
I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup with fair amount of metal that magnets should adhere to well. The back of the trailer has little metal except for a trailer hitch/bike rack unit. I like the looks and apparent simplicity of this wireless camera system, part RVS87FR. I havent bought it yet, but leaning that way.... 1 Plug monitor into cigarette lighter - Done. 2 Use magnet on base of camera to attach to bumper, tailgate, or trailer hitch, etc. and point camera at trailer hitch - Done. 3 Move camera to rear of trailer and attach to whatever metal you can find and point camera where you need to - Done! What am I missing? Questions: 1. Is this a new item for etrailer? No comments, questions, or photos other than from manufacturer? Could you take and send some pix to show size, durability, etc. as etrailer usually does? Whats your experience with it? 2. The unit must come with a cord to attach unit to cigarette lighter? right? 3. How strong is the magnet can I leave it on truck and drive down the road or use it as a regular back-up camera? Whats width and distance range of camera? 4. How reliable is 70foot wireless hook-up? Im 45foot front bumper to trailer rear. 5. Anything else I should know? Thanks!

Hey Thom! You're not missing anything. The RVS WIreless Hitch Camera part # RVS87FR really is as simple as you made it out to be. It is new to us and we haven't had the chance to get one in yet but once we do we will make the videos and take the pictures you are used to seeing from us. We have some coming soon I believe.
So we haven't had direct experience with it yet but the RVS brand is very solid and based on their reputation I would feel confident recommending it.
The magnet is strong enough to attach and leave on vehicle and also it does come with power cord for monitor.

Hey Thom, did you end up trying out the RVS wireless hitch camera on your Tacoma and trailer setup? I'm curious how the magnet held up while driving and if the 70-foot range gave you a clear view. Your feedback could really help others thinking about this camera.
