Could a 2014 Subaru Outback Tow a 5x8 Trailer Loaded with Mulch  

Question:

I PURCHASED A SUBARU OUTBACK WITH A CLASS 1 HITCH 2014 FROM THE FACTORY. I ALSO HAVE A 5 X 8 TRAILER THAT I HAUL MULCH ECT. WITH. ON THE TONGUE IT STATES 2500 GVWR, BUT I DONT KNOW THE TONGUE WEIGHT. IT HAS 13inch TIRES ON IT, EMPTY WEIGHT IS 560 lBS.. IT IS ALSO 77inch WIDE and 11foot 3 inch LONG. I GUESS MY MAIN QUESTION IS CAN I USE MY TRAILER WITH A CLASS 1 HITCH 2inch BALL AND A 3 - 5inch DROP ON THE MOUNT ? I MOSTLY HAUL MULCH AND OCCASIONALY MY LAWN TRACTORFOR REPAIR.

You will first need to determine what the towing capacity is for your 2014 Subaru Outback and then determine how much your trailer will weigh when it is loaded at its max. I attached and FAQ article on determining tongue weight that should be very helpful.

If you determine that your trailer weighs less than the max capacities listed for your vehicle then you would have no problem using your vehicle to tow your trailer.

You will also want to make sure that your trailer is being towed as level as possible. To do that you would need to pick out the correct rise/drop ball mount to match your trailer. I attached an FAQ article on how to do this as well.
