my 2017 nissan rogue has the hands free kick to open tail gate. is that option still usable with this hitch?

I have a solution for you and a great hitch but the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver item # e79YR you were looking at fits a 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport. You will still be able to use the hands free liftgate function but it won't fit the standard Rogue.
For a hitch that will fit a 2017 Nissan Rogue you will want the etrailer Trailer Hitch item # e98846. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Rogue with included hardware. The only part of the the lift gate function that will be affected is right around the center of your bumper where the 2" x 2" receiver is located.
You will want to confirm which model of Rogue you have because the hitches mentioned in this answer do not fit both models.

To round out your towing setup I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
