Question:

what is the minimum overall width needed to mount the 16foot smart arm awning? I have 15foot 6inch of flat surface. i saw the Awning was 151inch im assuming fabric width. does it actually need a full 16foot from out side to out side

Awning lengths like the Solera Smart Arm 12V Power RV Awning - 16' Wide # LC517486 actually mean the distance from the center of one arm to the center of the other arm. The arms are approximately 3" wide so you'd be looking at approximately 16' 3" wide total when you add in the 1.5" of awning arm from each side.

Since you have 15' 6" of space you would need the Solera 12V XL Power RV Awning - 15' Wide - Extra-Long 9'8" Projection - Black Fade # LCV000334950-362243 instead.
