Can a CB Radio Hook Up Via the Cigarette Lighter Port Using Adapter
Question:
If I wire my cb radio with the power plug for the cigarette lighter,do I hook both hot wire red and ground black wire to the replacement plug,then it will grounded too ? I will not have to ground it,right ? then the CB will work ? Thanks

The standard hook up via the cigarette lighter are +/- and 12V respectively. By connecting your wire to the connector you will have a power and a ground coming directly from your CB. The power is the center and the side is the ground.
It is possible that your cigarette lighter circuit may not have a high enough amperage rating to power your CB radio.
Your vehicles owners manual should have the accessory outlet amp rating for the cigarette lighter listed.You will have to compare that value with the value of what amps it takes to power your CB. If your CB requires more current than the accessory port gives out your vehicles fuses may blow.
