Converting Champion Dual Fuel Generator To Allow Multiple Propane Tanks To Connect To Generator
Question:
Hi! I have a Champion Dual Fuel Generator Model 100574. It has a propane quick disconnect port on the front and came with a basic hose with built in regulator to connect to a single propane tank. I would like to have a regulator and quick disconnect hose to plug in to it, but with the right hoses to connect and switch between two 30lb bottles. Kind of like you find on the front of trailers but instead of going to the coach, going to the generator. This would help us in quickly switching tanks for the generator when were dry camping. Do you have a kit or can you list me the parts I would need to order to do this? Thank you!

I have a couple options that you can consider for your Champion Dual Fuel Generator.
First is the simplest as everything can be easily attached to your current hose and regulator. The MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting w Hose # 103615 will add a tee fitting going into your regulator and allow you to have 2 separate tanks connected to your generator. This will use your current regulator to control the pressure going into the generator. There is a shut off valve for the one remote line that will allow you to change that tank without shutting off the generator. There is also a connector for the small 1lb tanks that could be used as a last resort if needed.
Second the option that is closest to what you mentioned a camper having. You can use the Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator # CAM59005 as it does meet the required 11" volume required by the Champion generator. You will also need 2 Camco Propane Supply Hose # CAM59153 to connect to both tanks. The problem lies in finding the correct quick connect as Champion does not sell the quick connect separately. You would need to have your hose taken to a hydraulic line shop and have a custom hose made with the 3/8 NPT male on one end and your quick connect for the Champion generator on the other.
