Troubleshooting Superchips Flashpaq 2841 With Error Code - "Change Battery First
Updated 07/16/2021 | Published 07/15/2021 >
Question:
When I hook up my unit and try to change the tune, after it goes through all the steps, at the point where it is uploaded and supposed to change it, it will post up a not saying “change battery first”. I’ve got a new battery in the truck and I see nowhere to change one on the unit itself so, what going on? It’s worked fine in the past.

I spoke with my tech contact over at Superchips about your Superchips Flashpaq Performance Tuner # SU3845 and this error message you're seeing sometimes has occurred with a new battery being installed on a vehicle. In order to power the Flashpaq, it's required that you get a bit more than 12v (more like 12.5v) for the tuning cycle to take place. Their recommended solution for this is to hook the battery up to a charger or jumper and then try to run the process; this extra juice to the battery should be enough to get the proper power to the unit to complete the re-programming and tuning of the vehicle.
