Will CTEK Battery Charger Get Hot when in Use

Question:
2001 dodge viper. new battery. was away for a month and battery had drained but not totally. put on a ctec 7002 and the charger got very hot. is this normal?

Any battery charger, including the CTEK MULTI US 7002 # CTEK56353 will get pretty warm and might be a little uncomfortable to the touch but it shouldn't be getting so hot that you cannot touch it or where it is smoking. If that is the case then I'd double check your connections to make sure everything is clean and you don't have any debris getting in the way.
