Recommended Replacement for Reese Outfitter Adventure Towing Bike Rack

Question:

Hi, I have a Reese Outfitter Adventure system TOWING 4 bike rack. I saw a replacement top piece that has 4 slots, however this will not work with the rack that I have as the top has two plates to secure the bikes, the model is from before 1999. Do you have any top plates with two sections or can you recommend a replacement rack that has the towing capacity that this rack has? Thanks!

I do have a couple great options for you, however there are no longer any replacement top pieces available that fit your older Reese Outfitter Adventure Rack. Your only option at this point is to replace the carrier altogether.

For a rack that's really similar to what you have I recommend taking a look at the Swagman Original 4 Bike Towing Rack # S64675. This carrier can handle 4 bikes and has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, which I believe is even more than the limits on your Reese model.

I have attached a short video demonstration that you can check out as well.

@Sandra From what I could find the Outfitter has a 35 pound per bike capacity and a 3,500 pound towing limit when using it to pull a trailer too. The Outfitter has been replaced by newer versions of the same type of rack by Reese - so it wasn't discontinued for any particular reason other than just being phased out to make room for updated models. It's a fine carrier that we used to sell ourselves, so you're good to use it.
