Question:
I need to add an external transmission cooler to bypass the one in the radiator. What would you suggest?

Transmission coolers are not so much vehicle specific as they are size specific. You basically just want the biggest transmission cooler that you can get to fit in the space in front of your radiator especially since you are bypassing your radiator cooler.
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets part # D13502 is a great option and measures 11" wide x 7-1/4" tall x 7/8" deep. I have attached a video of this transmission cooler for your reference.
Traditionally aftermarket coolers are designed to supplement your factory cooler so that is the best way to install it however, if your factory cooler is not working or it's damaged (leaking) then you can bypass it.
