Redarc Charger for 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 with Dual Battery Setup
Updated 07/08/2019 | Published 07/06/2019 >
Question:
I just watched your You Tube about the installation of the Redarc BCDC1225D DC-to-DC Charger. I have a 2018 Colorado ZR2 and have a dual battery set up BUT the person who installed it was not aware of the smart alternator issue and installed the National Luna smart relay which works but is inadequate because of the smart alternator. My auxiliary battery is an Odyssey 31-PC2150 which needs 14.7V at 40A to charge to 100 per Odyssey. Will the Redarc BCDC1240D solve my issue using one of the charging profiles? How do I find someone to install it? None of the RV shops in the area have been willing and really only one understood my problem. I am currently talking to a car audio shop and they are reviewing the literature. Glad you are now handling the Redarc products.

The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1240D that you referenced is the correct charger setup you'd need. It can put out up to 40 amps and is compatible with smart alternators like you have as well.
I attached an install diagram that shows how it will wire up (without the solar panel you see pictured) as well as a link to the install instructions as well.
