How To Install 13 Inch Tires On A Right on Trailer Multi Sport Trailer
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I bought a small trailer a couple years ago Its the Right on Trailer Multi Sport Trailer. It comes with small 8inch tires. My problem is the tires are not really rated for highway use and I live in an area where 20 minutes up or down the highway provides endless fishing, and Id like to take the trailer to Maine with me the few times a year I go. I bought a set of 2 ply tires ST175/80D13, 4 bolt 4 and immediately found out they dont fit. So my question is this: I know Ill probably have to switch axles and such, but where do I start? I need the hubs to stick out roughly an inch from the current ones and need maybe 2 more inches of clearance up so the tire would fit under the fender. I only use it for my 60lb kayak so weight isnt really a factor, only being able to take it at highway speeds. Thanks!!

The first step in order to replace the axle on your Right on Trailer Multi Sport Trailer is to take a few measurements, the spring center and hub face (see photo). Once we have these we can get you setup with one that will allow you to use your ST175/80D13 tires and wheels. For example, the CE Smith Trailer Axle Beam part # CE33201GA has a 57-1/2" hub face and 46-1/2" spring center. The spring center however can be moved.
Please note you most likely are not going to be able to clear the fenders with a new axle but what you can do is remove the ones you have now and install the CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fenders part # CE19503-2 with the Mounting Brackets for Trailer Fender part # CE26098G-2.
