What is Towing Capacity Difference Between Dually and Single Rear Wheel 2018 Ford F-350
Question:
Hello, I had a question for yall. So I bought a 2019 Heartland Cyclone 4200. The GVWR is 20,000 lbs and the dry weight is roughly 16,000. The hitch weight is roughly 3525 lbs. I wanted to know if a 2018 Ford F-350 Diesel CC SRW 8 ft. bed would be suitable? I would love to have a dually, but I live in downtown Houston so it would be hard enough just having a big truck, but also a dually. I would also say that I am not a frequent traveler. As in when I get somewhere I usually stay there for a month or 2 if not longer for work. I have friends with my same camper and one will say dually and the other single. I know the biggest upside to a dually is stability, but as far as the truck being able to pull it, would a SRW do the trick and with my situation make more sense? Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of having multiple cars right now so my decision will ultimately be my daily driver as well. Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks. P.S I did plan on getting Firestone Ride Rite air bag kit, and although I know it does not increase any weight ratings, it does help for a better ride.

I found a chart on Ford's site with the towing capacities of the 2018 Ford F-350s and the highest towing capacity that the non-duallys can have is 21,100 lbs and that's only if the truck is 4x2, regular cab, long bed with 3.55 gears so this could work for you. If you go with a dually the capacity basically increases by 10,000 lbs with the configuration except a dually then having a 32,000 lb capacity.
If you really wanted to get by with a single rear wheel truck you could but you'd have to be careful how you pick the options like I mentioned.
A Firestone Coil Rite Air Bag kit part # F2600 will give you additional suspension support like you are wanting but like you also said won't give you additional towing capacity. I attached an install video for this kit on a 2018 F-350 just like yours for you to check out too. To make inflating the bags and maintaining air pressure in them as easy as possible a compressor kit like part # F2097 would be what you'd want. This comes with a gauge that will mount in the cab of the truck that allows you to inflate/deflate the bags easily.
