How to Pick Out Correct Rise/Drop Ball Mount for Van Towing Trailer

Question:

Hi! I have a lawn business and right now all I have is a minivan with a hitch that is too low for the trailer I have the jack is kind of dragging on high spots in the road which is not good at all. I need to raise the hitch part about 6 inches or however much more safe. The trailer with the mower and everything weighs about 2000 lb what product would you recommend for me? Thanks!

I attached an FAQ that details how to pick out the correct ball mount for you to check. Basically picking out the correct ball mount will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. If you need more clearance and your trailer is sitting low up front then going with a higher rise would what you'd need. But if you are already level we can't recommend using a higher ball mount since your trailer won't ride properly with the nose pointed in the air.

Basically you will first measure the height from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the hitch while on level ground. Next, you will measure the coupler height from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when the trailer is on level ground.

Next, you will need to compute the difference. If the hitch height is greater than the coupler height the difference is the drop required. If the coupler height is greater the difference is the rise required. You will want to pick the ball mount with the rise/drop closest to the difference.
