Difference Between RetraxPRO MX Tonneau Covers With and Without Wide Rails

Question:

Thanks Kyle. The pictures were helpful. Still need a little more clarification, both models state top of bed rails cover stake pockets, from the pictures it doesnt appear that RT80462 would accomplish covering the stake pockets. What am I missing?

The only difference between the RetraxPRO MX Hard Tonneau Cover # RT80462 and the RetraxPRO MX Hard Tonneau Cover - Wide Rails # RT80472 is that 80472 that has an extra piece that goes over the bed rails of your truck (these tonneaus fit certain years and models of 2014 - 2019 GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado).

I have added a pair of photos for you which show the differences between how the two look when installed.

Happy to help clarify. I believe you are referring to the description that says "Top of Bed Rails - Covers Stake Pockets" for both tonneaus. This is true in regards to the fact that you would not be able to use accessories like a ladder rack with either. The only difference is that the longer piece of the RetraxPRO MX Hard Tonneau Cover - Wide Rails # RT80472 goes completely over your truck's bed rails, totally covering the rails, while the RetraxPRO MX Hard Tonneau Cover # RT80462 leaves part of your truck's rails exposed. So technically it is true that both tonneaus do cover the stake pockets the wide rails of # RT80472 is just a bit of a sleeker look because your bed rails are completely covered.
