Replacement Water Heater for an Atwood GC6AA-7 Water Heater

Question:

I need to replace my Atwood Water Heater GC6AA-7. I can only find replacement parts. Is there a substitution that will fit in my 96 LeisureStar?

I spoke with my contact at Dometic (who recently acquired Atwood heaters) and she informed me that the replacement for your Atwood GC6AA-7 water heater is part # AT96163.

The only difference with this heater is that this unit has a heat exchange for when you are driving down the road, but you don't have to connect it if you do not want to.

Please note that a replacement water heater should be installed by a professional to avoid potential injuries.

@RuthW The Atwood Water Heater AT96163 has been discontinued which is why you're having a hard time finding the number. I recommend using the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR48SR instead because it's more efficient and has better performance than a standard heater that comes with a tank.
