The Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Drum - Multi-Fit Ball - Bolt On - 7K # T43397007K is designed to fit a 3 inch wide coupler. It does not give a height restriction to that coupler size. You can use 3x3, 3x4, or 3x5 inch steel to replace your tongue and use with this coupler. The top of the coupler ball will line up pretty closely with the top of the tongue.
The weight of your trailer should dictate the dimensions of your tongue. If you trailer is 5,000 lbs or less, I would use a 3x3. If your trailer is 5,000 to 7,500 lbs, I would use 3x4. If your trailer is over 7,500 lbs then 3x5 is what I recommend.
