How to Determine Which Wheel Bearings are Needed for Trailer Axles

Question:

I have a very old Long CHIH trailer about 18 years. The inner and outer bearings are the same and size axle size and same size outter diameter and both on the 1inch axle and the outside diameter of the bearing itself is about 2inch probably all metric. The grease seal in the back is on a 1.249inch part of the axle, and the outer diameter is also about 2. Do you have a bearing set for this trailer? The plate with the model has long since fallen off, so I dont know which model this trailer is. The payload capacity is 1,100 lbs. its 48inch x 96inch bed, 8inch wheels Please advise on replacement bearing kit? Thank you advance

I was unable to find any specific information about your trailer but I can help you determine which bearings you will need. If you have the old bearings they should be stamped on the back with the part number.

If you do not have them or the number isn't legible you'll have to measure the inner diameter of the bearings or the diameter of the spindle where the bearings sit. I recommend using a digital caliper like # PTW80157 because you will want to make sure your measurements are as precise as they can be. Once you have measured you can search by size to find the correct ones.

I've attached a help article that goes over the process in greater detail. As well as a photo that shows what can be measured to determine the correct bearings.
